Can Motion Sensor Detect presence of a person even that person is not moving?

I want to use motion sensor to turn lights on if I am in the room and switch them off when I leave

the problem is when I am in the room and making no moves (reading for example) it detects "no motion" and turn the lights off.

so, can I configure the sensor to detect presence not motion?

I have a time delay in my rules:

if movement, turn on light

join

wait 10 min.

turn of light

this rule is triggered by movement, if I do not move for 10 min, light is off because then I am dead :-) .....

I have tested a lot of Sensors, but i don't know a sensor which can detect a person that is not moving.....

i combine a no motion timer (own variable) with a noice sensor of the ZipaTile to detect no motion for 10min and no noice for 10 min to turn off the light

Dear,

The motion sensor will not detect static warm objects like someone sleeping or sitting still on the couch.

Maybe with enough PIR sensors around the place, you can create conditions in which even the slightest motion will be registered.

The best solution will be creating a rule where you combine timer and motion sensor. Andreas wrote an example of the rule.

I know PIR sensors won't detect a person if it is not moving, but, Aeon Labs multi sensor 6 can be very sensitive, were the slightest movement (like turning pages) can be detected. The only issue is when you also use that sensor as security sensor, it will trigger your alarm very easy (unless you use cross zone groups, which I recommend if you use motion sensors as part of your security system).

In order to get around the issue you have, I did the following setup at home;

1. Manual ON/OFF - I used a Qubino Flush relay which output powers a Zipato bulb. The input of the relay (I2) is connected to the switch itself. I used "associations" for basic ON/OFF on the qubino in order to make the ON/OFF function almost immediate, you can use rules too but there is a delay that sometimes confuses people that are used to see the light come on immediatly after they press the button.

2. Motion Activated Light - This rule is only active if the manual switch is OFF, if the switch is ON it will stay ON until you switch it back to OFF or maybe run a "Good Night" scene.

This rule turns ON the light if movement is detected and the ilumination is below 15 lux and the bulb is NOT ON already (this last condition is there just to prevent this rule to overide a dim setting, i. e. you manually set the bulb to 25% using warm light). This rule waits for 3 minutes without motion in order to turn OFF the light.

If you want I can share my rules.

Yeah .. but in the user manual of Zipato Multisensor Duo, you can find in introduction Section: "Presence detector and temperature meter in one device"

so, I asked to make sure ..

I have same need with you.

So I developing new advanced PIR sensor module.

The target price is more expensive 2~3$ than normal PIR sensor.

Maybe I can probe my idea within 1 month.

I can send my test result if you leave your contact point by email.
