ZWC-K8 wall controller

Hi,

I am trying to set up my ZWC-K8 wall controller (https://www.tronika.no/no/zwave-kontrollere/1003-veggkontroller-zwc-k8.html) to control my Fibaro FGC-212 dimmers, but I am not able to get it working.

The wall controller is added to my devices with no problem, but I can't get the bindings to work. Is there anybody that has set up this controller with zipato before?

Respectfully

Greetings,

FGD-212 uses encryption by default. And such devices will flat out ignore almost all commands that are sent to it unencrypted.

ZWC-K8 doesn't event support encryption. So this might be your problem.

Check the FGD-212 user manual, there might be a configuration option that you can change to make it accept unencrypted commands sent to its association groups.

Hello,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have tried to change all groups in the dimmer from secure to non-secure (parameter 15 to 0), but this did not help.

I have also tried with another dimmer: Qubino ZMNHDD1 (https://www.tronika.no/no/lysstyring/864-dimmer-zmnhdd1.html). Even with this I am not able to set up a binding that is working. But with the Qubino dimmer I was able to turn ON and OFF the light using the ZWC-K8 after adding an association between a group on the K8 and the dimmer. I was not able to dimm up/down.

Any suggestions on how to get the bindings working?

Im facing the same issues and i have been in contact with zipato support but they have not solved it yet.

The only thing that works is zwave assiciation, you can find these under the device then the "advanced" tab then there is a button labeled "manage assiciations". This will limit you quite a bit as it will only be able to control other zwave units and you wont be able to trigger rules

So you were able to control the FGD-212 dimmer with ZWC-K8 using associations? I tried this a couple of months ago, but was not able to make it work. Did you add the associations under the advanced tab for the wall controller og the dimmer?

I have since moved most of my stuff over to SmartThings but i did manage to connect it with Fibaro Double Relay Switch FGS-222 and also TKBHOME TZ67G. I am not able to connect to the FGD-212 in SmartThings so it might be as Marko Katić said that it wont respond to unencrypted communication.

When reading the documentation

http://www.fibaro.com/manuals/en/FGD-212/FGD-212-EN-T-v1.0.pdf

i interpret param 27 as the one defining the security, setting that one to 0 should allow non-secure communication but i haven't tried it yet

I just read a bit closer and param 27 is not changing so that the device accepts non-secure commands, it's for changing how it sends commands to other devices when you have a switch connected to S1 and/or S2 and toggle that one

Thank you for your feddback, Edvald. I tried the parameter 27 a while ago, and came to the same conclusion. Seems like the solution is to be able to choose between secure or non-secure inclusion of the dimmer. This is possible on the Fibaro Homecenter, and it is working there.

According to Zipato this functionality should soon be availabe on Zipabox aswell. Not sure when though...

Try removeving the switch, reset and include it further away from the controller. Generally to include a device as secure inclusion required the device to be within 1m of the controller. The inclusion type is noted adt the end of inclusion by a message.
