Ikea Trådfri gateway

Hello,

Anyone who knows if I can connect ikea "trådfri gateway" to zipabox? or is a zigbee module required? And if I get a zigbee module, then I can connect "trådfri" right without ikea gateway, or will it be better with that?

Many questions at once :)

I can confirm that you can control Ikea Trådfri lamps directly from Zipatile (and presumably also from Zipabox+Zigbee module). You do NOT really need the Ikea gateway, and cannot connect the Ikea gateway to Zipato stuff. My suggestion, however, is that you get a Ikea gateway and a Ikea remote, and use these to update the firmware of your lamps. Not because it's necessary in any way; things work fine without firmware update. It's just that I like things to be as bug-free as possible :-)

It worked for me but it took about 30 min before the dimmer value was available....

Hello Anders!

Can you please provide som more PrintScreens of the setup och the Lamp??

Shall I just add it, and then wait for an hour and hope that the dimming and warmness-regulators show up??

Upgrade to latest beta to get native support without need of renaming.

I tried with zipabox zigbee expansion module and it works. But its dimming settings still weird. I have to turn on the bulb after that I can set dim value. :S

Do you still have the same problem or is it fixed?

Do I need Ikea gateway to update the blub?

No, you need Zigbee modul for zipabox or zipatile with zigbee.

You should use the Zigbee module and then directly add ikea lightbulbs, works super for me.

The response is not so fast as with z-wave devises but with the price Ikea have... no z-wave device can compare.

If I buy the zigbee module - can I connect "trådfri" lights without the need for the "trådfri gateway"?

I read somewhere that you need to gateway to "update to the latest firmware" in the lights if you want to be sure to connect other solutions as well??? Can anyone verify this?

This does not seem to work so well with "trådfri" E27, I Can not turn off the lamp, but it can dim up and down but I can not turn off the lamp completely, why?

Jimmy, Zipato is in the process of updating the Ikea lamps in the device database. Expect things to work fine shortly..

I can confirm the IKEA TRÅDFRI lamps can be added to Zipabox with the Zigbee Module and included in rules.

You cannot add the IKEA gateway to Zipato nor the remotes, but it (IKEA gateway) can easily be added to Apple HomeKit and that is a much better user experience than the IKEA App (and the Zipato iOS app at the moment) and you get handling remotely via an Apple TV or an iPad “for free” (if you’re already Appleified) which acts as the controller.

But then the whole idea of the Zipabox as a single controller is lost... so... when do we get some iOS/Apple/HomeKit focus from Zipato?

Is this solved?

I have included some of the notes in this thread on our unofficial wiki. Please let me know if this poses a problem.
