Push notification stopped working (iPhone)

RoSche shared this idea 3 months ago
In Progress

In the rule creator there is now a red x in front of the receiver, which did not show up before.

What is wrong now? How can it be solved?

Many thanks,

More than a month to solve a push notification on the iPhone. Maybe would be nice to open the source code so we could solve that faster than Zipato.

There is nothing to be fixed. Apple made a change so mobile apps should be updated to continue receiving push notifications. You are using outdated app which we don't support for quite some time already. We have a new one which has push notifications

Hi anyone at Zipato,

Any news of the push notification on iPhone? This is very important feature since I have several alerts related to push notification. Let me know if this will take days, months or years to be fixed.

Camilo

Hi Zipato,

In this push notification a pro feature? Or this will be removed from the marketing page (https://www.zipato.com/how-it-works/features)?

2 months to fix a push notification and now no answer from Zipato.

Let us know if we have to move to app like pushbullet.

Hi

push notifications work fine on V3 platform. Issue occurs on the V2 platform for the iOS not for the Android.

To go for V3 we need the Zipabox 2. I want to keep using my Zipabox. Are you not going to fix that for V2? Should I forget updates for V2?

Hi Dino Mandic,

Are you going to fix the notification for iphone? If the answer is yes, when?

Sebastian -

Wow, that might be something I have not heard before:

- Are you saying that the iPhone push notification fix that we are all waiting for is already fixed with a different app which works for our devices?

- If so, why was that not communicated before? I must say that all apps that I am using update itself (all less one), or at least they tell me that there is a new alternative. Or are you guys having time to check the AppStore all the time for some potential new replacement for all your apps?

Or am I misunderstanding? Please clarify

Adding to my above note: I bought a Zipabox as one of your early customers (assume it is a V1) and spent lots of time making this work. Lots of pain and lost time. But helped Zipato to become a company with real products.

If there is a new app that does not work with my hardware than it is not of use to me.

Please explain the situation.

This is funny,.. really it is not,.. we have to choose between an unfinished V3 or an outdated/unsupported V2,.. Sebastian, are you serious?

Is there a reason to get three months later this information and not when the fault appeared, by the way, we notified you the fault not you to us.

This is not the way to provide support, I made a good decision not to continue with Zipato for my customers but late as I have to support them, I can not leave them or asking for an upgrade to continue working

We all know that when Apple make changes the rest of companies using such plattform make changes as well to keep it running.

@RoSche I understand you may be disappointed, but we don't have enough resources to maintain the old system anymore. I believe there was a lot of pain on your side to get the system to work properly, as it was the same on our side, but the technology is forcing us to move forward. I hope your experience with v3 will be more enjoyable.

@Gerardo A. I don't think it's funny. I'm also very serious. I don't know why are you frustrated if you are not using Zipato for your customers. Anyway, v3 is used in thousands of households already and although it won't be ever finished, it's quite feature-full and stable platform (way more than v2).

Just like you said, we are also the company which is making changes according to Apple's requests and that's why push notifications are still working with our official Zipato mobile app (v3).

Well, at least I can see some open communication now. Clearly the content is contrary to what has been communicated before but at least open.

I am sorry to say but this behavior is not how any company should deal with customers in general, and surely not with the early supporters. You are not the only company that goes thru migration issues but most companies protect the investment and work of their customers. I would have expected an irresistable offer to upgrade to the new hardware for all pre V1.0 customers that basically were unpaid software testers.

As such I don't think I will never find out if Zipatos V3 or any other future product of Zipato is more enjoyable.

I think this all is a decent push in the face of all of us.

RoShe, cannot agree more. If Zipato has no enough resources to continue with the app, open the source code and I will be a volunteer to fix the notification. Simple like that. Is just a trade between "respect for early customers" vs "money at all cost". A home automation system is not like a mobile that receive upgrades due new technologies. We just need it stable, not new features but just continue with the ones we already have. A Push notification is a very common feature and a small update in the software would not hurt.

photo
1

@Camilio, funny that you compare the home automation systems with mobiles since you are actually having an issue with push notifications due to changes of your mobile phone supplier.

btw. we don't have any issue with sharing the ios app code, but you may find ti much more costly to maintain than you think right now:-)

photo
2

"due to changes of your mobile supplier" - Add it in your main page: "Zipato will not support updates from iPhone anymore".

Sebastian, publish the git URL for the app so. I am tired and disappointed with this level of support.

Its this has been resolved yet? I have 2 boxes and none its sending push notificacion. Its because i am still int the old Z. Version, it should keep working the same.

Any single word from Zipato and not fixed yet

Thanks Sebastian, are all issues with the new version has been fix, or if i change i will have some other issues that are not push notifications? Can you illustrate me on what problems to expect with new vs.

photo

It's difficult to compare it with V2. V2 had some specific features/integrations which were developed through the time and maybe some of them are left behind in V3. However, v3 is the only system we are maintaining and further developing so it's the only way to go.

photo

As Zipatobox 1 can be used only as a slave on V3, means you are not supporting V1 anymore and will not provide any other support on Zipatobox V1. Stefan wrote 2 months ago "this issue has already been reported and will be resolved as soon as possible." So in fact you are just denied any further update in zipato "old" users right?

I didn't see any official note from Zipato saying that old users need to buy a new hardware to continue using zipato. But is this the reality right?

photo

Zipabox v1 was first time produced in 2013 and the last time was in 2017. Unfortunately, it can't be used as Master in v3 platform which is launched in 2020. Sorry for bad news.

photo

So zipatobox 2 is declared "NEW" in the official zipato page. You mean this is new from 2017? Also, I have all functionalities from Zipato since I was one of the beta users. If I buy a Zipatobox 2, I will reaming with these functionalities or I will have to pay additional 100 USD for "pro version" that enables some additional software features?

photo

I have to agree that our web pages are not properly updated, not as much as our platform for sure:-)

As for the functionalities, v3 is having a different licensing system. Some functions can be transferred as well, but that depends of technical compatibilities so please contact support about that.
