Replace NEST Thermostat with Zipatile?

Martin Pagel shared this thanks 2 years ago

Can a Zipatile replace a NEST Thermostat? It seems like I can measure and control temperature, can Tipatile act like a thermostat for my heater here in the U.S.?

Yes, it can replace Nest, but would it not be easier to integrate Nest to Zipatile?

I would rather not spend money on a NEST and control my house through ONE device. It seems if Zipatile already knows I'm home and what temperature there is and what I want, can Zipatile do all the smart things a Nest can do? What other value is provided by Nest?

Martin, I thought you already have Nest. In this case it makes sense to keep it and extend the system by Zipato. Nest is a great product with good lock and easy control.

If you dont have nest, than yes, Zipato is a good choice.

Added functionality by having Nest is that they use a reliable family tracking system but that would require a certain level of experience to benefit from (not advanced, but still more than a beginner).

What about the fact that the pre-heating gets adjusted based on the outside temperature and how long it has taken my furnace to heat up before? Does Zipatile do this or would I have to program this into Zipatile myself?

This is not something zipato does. Probably a Nest only feature currently unless sone smart thermostats have same functionality. But not smart home system.

ok, thanks anyways, I may need to do the combo then...

In combo the Nest will not be a smart thermostat anymore (if Im correct) - i mean it will not calculate in advance how long it takes to heat up... it will be used as a thermostat to the zipato system following the zipato heating schedule.

As far as Im aware.
