Dear Zipato team,

Don't you consider that it could be usefull having an easy way to trigger/test rules just with a new button close to the 'SAVE' one like in the attached picture?

Thanks

Gerardo

Hello Gerardo,

thank you for your feedback, yet the rule can simply be tested after it has been saved, and the controller has been synced, since the rule has to be copied on the controller in order to run properly (and offline for example). Unfortunately, there isn't any easier way.

Best regards,

Stefan

Hi Stefan. Thats fine. I understand the limitation (lot of people do), but it is a shame it cannot be done so easily. Surely there are other jobs in priority...

I can suggest to create a virtual switch called "Debug Rule" and use it in the new rule you build.

WHEN <condition> OR "Debug Rule"=any then ....

So after save&sync, you can simply trigger the virtual switch to execute the rule.

... obviously something like a rule debugger could be a lot better..

I do the same as Simone, I have virtual switch called "Test Switch" which I use to test rules that are harder to test using the actual trigger condition, such as schedulers.
