Zipabox grinds to a halt.

AndrewS shared this thanks 5 days ago

Sometime when the box has been on for several days or weeks i notice things start to get delayed by up to a minuite. Instructions to put on lights can vary from a few seconds to a minuite.

Rebooting appears to help.

Ideas ?

Andrew

I had similiar problems before, for me it was z-wave devices that sent powercurrent updates every few second. After changing their settings to not update as often it became better. But still i notices sometimes that this still happens, but cant find solution.

But start with check your logs when its slow to see if any device is spamming updates.

Any device with software almost certainly has memory leaks somewhere. Eventually those add up and the system grinds to a halt. I have set up an automatic reboot of the box when it's been running for more than 10 days.

how did you do the auto reboot ?

Using a TP-Link socket to restart the router, triggered from a Google App Script, which in turn is triggered from the Zipabox itself.

Same with my router, for the same reason. After a certain amount of time it grinds to a halt.
