ZipaMicro battery backup not working

Miloslav Pawlica shared this thanks 4 months ago

Hello, could you please provide support or description howto use additional internal battery in Zipamicro? I have added battery asdescribed with correct specification and the batter is charged, but when Iremove power cord of Zipamicro it simply shutdowns immediately like the batteryis not there. I was checking thatZipamicro is sending charge to battery but no matter if I add rechargeable ornon-rechargeable battery, ZipaMicro still do not use it as power backup. Contactsare in place. Not sure what to do, any support would be appreciated.

I just purchased a ZipaMicro and have no info about what battery to purchase or where to find it? Can you indicate or do I need to submit a ticket for this info? Thanks!

Hi, yes I can at least give you some tips, but I can not guarantee that it will work, because my battery backup is not working. I asked Zipato for support to solve it, but I have just received some non-functional firmwares which killed my zipamicro totally, lucky I was able to make restore but last recommendation from zipato support was to send device to seller and ask for replace.

I after some search I have decided to purchase battery li-ion rechargeable 3,7V, adding picture bellow.

Hi. I submitted a ticket and asked about the battery. They said it should be a 18350 battery Li-Ion 3,7V 900mAh.

Unfortunately my ZipaMicro is apperently and older version that does not have the battery slot inside.

Surprise! :) So I have to find a powerbank that can be charched and supplying power at the same time....or doing some special USB Y-cable to enable using a normal powerbank. Lets see.

This looks like a joke. So we have at least 3 types of the same device on the market. 1) contain batter slot and are already equipped with battery , 2) have the battery slot, but no batter and if you add battery it is not working, 3) there is no battery and the battery slot is also missing.

Pretty funny X-D

If you find any power bank which could do it, let me please know. I was not lucky about that. Most of the power banks do not support it.

I have available this device, maybe it will handle it, but I can not test it yet, will do it next week.

Lidl Tronic, there are other vendors for same device.

Happy to see you have positive way of looking at it! :)

Your powerbank seems to support it. I see this 1:40 in the YouTube clip. Please confirm later!

See the image attached from my ZipaMicro. Can you send me a picture of yours back?

Please check my reply on the top (41 hours ago). There is picture. I can not do the new one, because the device not in my home but on my chalet and I'm not there right now.

Interesting, you picture looks totally different from mine. Your device seems to be containing more parts and also I miss the cabling on my zipamicro :-D So if there are using really different hardware in every device, we are lucky that we do not see more problems with compatibility :-D

Henning, when I compare both boards on picture, it looks for me that you have some super Zipamicro edition. What is your package device description? Does it only support z-wave as mine?

Wow. Sorry for missing your image already there.

No, mine is just an older version and I guess it is manually build based on a PI hence the two boards etc.

Zipato probably redesigned it later and managed to get all gear into one board and added the battery.

Fun level of confusion here!! :)

Thanks! Please confirm your Powerbank test when you have tested it.

Hi Henning, I have tested the charging device with just led lamp and it is working well, no interruption during disconnecting of power cable or connecting it again. So it might be suitable to work as small UPS for any 5V device. I'm attaching foto. Still, I would be more happy to do not need attach additional device. More devices attached to power outlet then more dangerous it is :-D Hopefully, it will help you.

I just found that I do not need to use any additional backup power, because after some updates the battery backup seems to be working. I just tried it :-D So this is fantastic.
