Creating a rule to manage 16 window sensors and 12 thermostats in pairs

Hi forum
I have in my house 16 windows and 12 thermostats.
I want my thermostats to shut down when I open my windows.
I try to avoid making 16 rules (one for each window sensor), so could anyone point me in a direction using e.g. Variables or some group trick I don't know about? I only want to shut down the nearest thermostat to an open window.
