ZipaTile Thermostat is Opentherm or On/Off?

Need Answer

Hi, I am considering buying the new ZipaTile (https://www.zipato.com/product/zipatile/). I see that it has a Thermostat build in. Does anyone know whether it is an On/Off or Opentherm thermostat? It is not stated in the specifications.

I really want to know this too. I am looking for a new thermostat, and if this one is opentherm it would be very nice.

Only zipato can answer this question but there is no open therm z-wave thermostat (as far as i know) on the martket. So don't think this one is going to be either.

We were evaluating this option few times while developing the Zipatile. At the end, we have decided not to support Open therm inside the Zipatile, but eventually through some external Z-wave to Open Therm module. There are some already available on the market, but in case of any serious market demand, we will publish our own module very fast.

I think he's reffering to something like Benext Heating Control. A list with Open Therm modules that work together with the Zipatile would be nice. But i think that is gonna take some time. Maybe zipato can gives us an indication when the support for some modules will be ready? This way we can make up our minds if its usefull to to wait for the zipato thermostat or just by a new one in the mean time.

Yeah you are right. I am curious what the solution is where Sebastion Popovic referred to.

this is the device which was recommended to us by one of our distributors:

What do you think?

Regarding the solution, a controler by zipato would be nice. Question is: how does Zipato measure a 'serious market demand'? Smart thermostats are popping up everywhere, but they all have their own (closed) protocols or they are not easy to add to your z-wave without any hardcore coding. So i think the market demand is there.

Good day, thank to an European grant we just finished to develop our own Opentherm controller able to provide, for large projects, also AI predictive maintenance and energy optimization algorithms. You can see the product here https://www.myvirtuosohome.com/en/devices/454-z-wave-thermostat-switch-for-opentherm-boilers.html
