Application

is currently down for maintenance. We will be back in a couple of minutes.

Thanks for your patience.

--> A message that you are working on it -that's better than the standard no connection browser message! :-)!

Any idea of time-frame?

Why is there still no backup/redundancy to avoid situations like this?

Why isn't priority given tot fixing the local connection issue so the many outages don't affect the users???? This is getting ridiculous....

I had been able to pay more for the box if they could avoid any server problems

sERVERS DOWN !! Now Zipato must give explainations to the question asked for more than one year now in the following topic :

https://community.zipato.com/topic/servers-down-request-for-info-on-zipato-servers-high-availability-solution-deployed

Not giving an answer is making me very suspicious that Zipato teams are nothing but ridiculous amateurs in IT systems, IT architecture and IT development.

I don't actually own a Zipabox yet, currently running a Vera 3, and ran across this company. So I take it there is no local access to the box? Hmm may have to stick with the Vera 3, too bad this looks like a nice operating system.

To answer Shawn question : My understanding is the following :

- The

configuration of the box is done via the Cloud (configuration =

associating & configuring new devices, configuring alarms,

thermostats, creating rules, etc... ). So you are right : No local access to configure

the box

- The Box operates locally for regular operation (uch as

switching on/off a light, triggering an alarm, etc..) in that case, you do not need

cloud connection to operate.

-The Box needs network connection to

Zipato Cloud to operate virtual devices (named "HTTP devices" in Zipato

configuration ). My experience with the box is that HTTP devices are

usefull to avoid creating complex rules. No local access to operate

virtual devices.

So I would conclude that the box requires network connection to operate properly.

My 3 years experience is that zipato servers

unplaned outages happen regularly, a couple of time a year. Servers are

usually back within a couple of hours. But I suspect that Zipato team

have not implemented any continous availability solution. Zipato team is

very uncomfortable on this topic : they refuse to answer questions and

they put topics in the trash when asked in this community forum and this is very irritating. I will

add that Zipato do not propose options to backup your box configuration.

Therefore these are major flaws in their design leading to medium

reliability level and a significant risk of loosing everything ( and

this happens ! : after a reboot of the box, one third of my modules

lost their configuration I had to re-configure everything)

My advice : your conclusion is the right choice.

@ Shawn: Depends how complex your rules are. I just have some simple rules for heating & lights, and never had a problem. But again, I might be only using 20% of whats possible with this system.

Good night ... for saying something.

At this moment in my house nothing works. Let's see how I set the alarm tonight that we're going out for dinner ....

Apparently these gentlemen of Zipato are going to give us a good Christmas ..... What a disaster.

Greetings and Merry Christmas to all.

This is getting to be rather annoying - and now the rules based on the virtual weatherstation don't work any more. Anybody with the same experiences?

I have an outside light, synced with the weather stations sunset, and today it didn't turn on the lights. No idea why. I might be wrong, but in the past, the sunset icon was dark red, not greyed out...
