ZIPABOX 2 + Security module on V3 platform
Need Answer
Hi, is there somebody which use the SECURITY MODULE with a ZIPABOX 2 ?
How it's work? I don't find any information on how to configure it within the V3 platform app.
In the configuration menu I found only the UART function to configure. No configuration menu about zones, PGM, OUT, SIREN, ...
Thanks for your feedback.

You've hit upon a common frustration for users of the Zipabox 2 Security Module. Information on configuring it within the V3 platform is indeed sparse, and the interface can be unintuitive. Here's a breakdown of what I've found and how it generally works, based on user experiences and limited official documentation: Official Website
Key Challenges and Observations:
Limited V3 Platform Integration:
The V3 platform's integration with the Security Module is often described as incomplete or poorly implemented.
Many users report the same issue you're facing: the lack of clear configuration options for zones, PGMs, sirens, etc.
UART Configuration:
The UART configuration you see is primarily for communication with the module itself, not for setting up its security functionalities.
This is a lower level configuration.
Lack of Clear Documentation:
Zipato's official documentation for the Security Module and its V3 platform integration is often considered inadequate.
User-Driven Solutions:
Much of the knowledge about configuring the module comes from user forums and community-driven efforts.
General Functionality and Potential Workarounds:
Zone Configuration (Potential):
While not clearly visible in the V3 interface, some users have reported that zone configuration might be possible through less obvious means, potentially involving:
Directly associating sensors with the module's inputs.
Using rules and scenes to define how zones are triggered and what actions should occur.
PGM and Siren Control:
Controlling PGMs (Programmable Outputs) and sirens might also require using rules and scenes.
You might need to create rules that trigger specific outputs based on zone triggers or other events.
Workaround with rules:
It is very likely that you have to create many rules to achieve the desired security system behavior.
Community Forums:
I strongly recommend checking Zipato's official forums and other home automation communities. Users might have shared specific rules or configurations that could help.
Important Considerations:
The Security Module's functionality within the V3 platform might be limited compared to its potential.
Be prepared to spend time experimenting with rules and scenes to achieve your desired security setup.
It is very possible that some of the security module's hardware potential, is not accessible from the V3 platform.
