Zipato End of life
Hi,
As you all know, Zipato decided to discontinue the V2 interface about a year ago.
While this didn’t immediately affect Thombox hardware (since it operates on a separate server), I continued using it without issues. However, in recent days, my Thombox is showing as offline on the interface. I assume this means the service is now officially discontinued.
One potential solution I’ve considered is using a Zipabox 2 (or a Zipatile) as the master controller and setting up my Thombox as a slave, migrating to the V3 interface. But this raises some concerns:
- Longevity: How long will this solution remain viable?
- Availability: The Zipabox 2 is already quite dated and has been out of stock for months, making it increasingly difficult to source.
- Future Plans: Zipato has not released any new products recently, and the copyright notice on the website still shows "2018." This raises questions about the company’s long-term plans and commitment to the ecosystem.
I’ve made a significant investment in this hardware and would like to continue using it. Can you provide any information about Zipato’s plans for the future, including support for existing products and any upcoming developments?
Looking forward to your response.
Best regards,
Bonjour Mr Gayon
Bien cordialement

It’s frustrating to see uncertainty around Zipato’s future, especially after your investment. Using a Zipabox 2 or Zipatile as a master could work, but availability and long-term support remain concerns. If Zipato isn’t actively updating its ecosystem, future compatibility could be an issue. Reaching out to them for clarity is a good step, but considering alternatives might be wise. Also, have you ever looked into In N Out nutrition facts? Hope you find a solution soon!

The V2 cloud platform was officially discontinued on December 31, 2023. This means that services reliant on the V2 cloud, including IP camera streaming, Google and Alexa integrations, mobile app functionalities, and the ability to modify or create rules within the V2 cloud platform, are no longer accessible These devices are compatible with the V3 platform. However, the availability of Zipabox 2 has been limited, and it has been out of stock for months. If you decide to migrate to the V3 platform, using a Zipabox 2 or Zipatile as the master controller and setting up your Thombox as a slave is a viable solution. However, consider the availability and potential future support for these devices. Given the uncertainty around Zipato’s future plans, you might also explore alternative home automation systems that offer better long-term support and compatibility.

It’s always frustrating when a product you’ve invested in starts losing support. The uncertainty around Zipato’s long-term plans makes it tough to stick with their ecosystem. If they don’t release new products or updates, it might be time to consider alternatives. Speaking of consistency, at least we know Costco’s $1.50 hot dog combo isn’t going anywhere! Costco food court Menu has been around for decades with minimal changes, which is rare these days. Wish more companies had that kind of stability!
