Credits for sending mail

Hi,
I'm trying to make Zipabox send a simple, daily email containing a sensor value. When I configure the message, I use the "insert value" dropdown box and select the sensor I need. Instead of the value/variable symbol, a dialog box appears asking me to buy credits.
Do I really need to buy credits for this purpose, or can you fix this for me?
If credits are actually needed, how many credits are required for a daily email of say four different sensor readings?
