Aeotec Garage Door Controller

Need Answer

Does anyone have any experience with this device (http://aeotec.com/z-wave-garage-door-controller)? It joins to the Zipabox ok and will control the door (open / close) but the tilt sensor functionality will not report to the Zipabox. I have an open ticket with support but thought I would see if anyone out there has been able to successfully fully integrate this device.

I have been interested in this one for quite some time as well.

My general provider of fun (http://www.m.nu) links all products they sell to a swedish z-wave compatability page.

What they say about the Aeotec Garage door controller is simply that it is, with zipato, controllable but it doesn't return values to the controller. Seems like a known compatability problem.

(ps, if the page goes swedish you got an "english" flag in the upper right corner)

Thanks Jens - support contacted me earlier and are looking into it to see if they can get it working. I will let you know how they go.

Hi Jens - just updating you that support have got this controller working (including the tilt sensor) and I have been testing it for a week or so with no problems. The only issues I am having are that the device comes up as a "gate" (which doesnt concern me) and I am having trouble including it in rules eg. when the door opens i want to get an email but because it is only showing up as an actuator rather than a sensor i am struggling with the correct rule . I suspect both of these issues are easily resolved and more due to my limited understanding of how it all works (and I havent had much chance to play around with it the past week or so).

You should feedback this to support, if you have a tilt sensor in the device you should be able to find it on "sensor" or "control" to use it to evaluate the door.

what setting did they give you? as im trying to get my tilt sensor to show the status.

you should be able to use the actuator in the sensor block to create the rule too. Any actuator is also a sensor in terms of determining whether it is on or off.

In the latest Fw release there was a fix that enabled the tilt sensor to report its state to the zipabox (previously the sensor was included but didn't report the state). After updating FW and reincluding the device, it still came up as two devices (the actuator to open and close and the sensor to report the state). I emailed support and from there they did something behind the scenes such that it now only shows as one device.

Thanks Adrian for clarifying - I will keep playing with the rules to see if I can get them working.
