Battery driven mini device used for indicator? Any idea welcome
Need Answer
Hey,
I am searching for a little z-wave device with LED for indicating some status. I use zipato mini keypad for arming and disarming my alarm system. Now I need some indicator for the alarm status. My idea is to use a little battery driven device with a led or something. Any idea?
Thanks

What I did was to put an z-wave RGBW light bulb in the in the hall way ceiling lamp. I then created a rule that triggered a number of red blinks if the door sensor was "open" and "intruder alarm" = armed. Works well.

I use practically the same rule as Jens, but with a buzzer/LED connected to a Z-wave wallplug. I had the wallplug "lying around" and the buzzer/LED will cost you a couple of euros.

When you enter the house and the alarm is armed a rule triggers the wallplug (buzzer and LED) for 30 seconds. Same time as the "entry zone delay".

I have RGBW LED strips on my hallways controlled by Fibaro RGBW controllers, I use them for many purposes including showing the alarm status, green for disarming, red for arming or tripped, orange for smoke/fire alert. You could also use RGBW bulbs as Jens does.
I cannot think of a battery zwave device that has a light that can be used for this purpose. Maybe you could use also Phillips Hue Go for this purpose, it has a battery and it is portable and compatible with Zipato.

Thank you all! I will think about your suggestions. Because of some reasons, I am still searching for a battery driven solution. One idea is to use a thermostat with LCD display. It could be used to show some information (i.e. 20 degree set temp = disarmed, 21 degree set temp is armed :-)

battery powered device is no good as they are not connected to the system actively - they only listed when they wake up. And they will never wake up the time when you arm the house. You need to consider a device that is always active listener.
