Data consumption between controller and cloud

Answered

Have anybody measured typical data consumption with Zipabox or Zipatile?

I am considering to install one in my parents summer house. Since there is only mobile Internet there, I am concerned about bandwidth cost.

I would need three temp sensors and 3 plug-in modules. About 2 schedules.

Now this would be some interesting information...I dont think it is much data. Probably a firmware update has bigger consumption

I guess I could try at home, using a proxy. But I am not sure that Zipabox supports passing through proxies?

Yes it does, I saw a guide on one of the topics. In the controller settings you have option to enter proxy server details

Dear Marius,

It all depends on how much is used. Normal data traffic on monthly bases will be around 20 MB. (Without transmission of multimedia content such as video streaming or snapshots)

*The firmware upgrade is around 60 MB.

For more details on proxy, please see link below:

A friend has a Zipabox Duo and two 433mhz Oregon temp and humidity sensors in his boat. This setup consumes about 40MB per month.

In a boat there will be frequent temperature fluctuations and the Oregons transmits every 0.1 degree change, so it probably produces more data than it would do mounted inside a house

Does the controller constantly poll for changes, like the web UI does, or does it use some sort of keepalive http connection to the cloud service?
