ElTako outdoor Enocean light sensor unsupported

David Pritchard shared this problem 7 years ago

I foolishly bought the Enocean module for the Zipabox and an ElTako outdoor Enocean light sensor, in the belief that Zipato would add support for it.

Now I am told that the device will not be supported because I'm the only one asking for it. So I have basically wasted my money.

So few Enocean devices are currently supported that it seemed obvious that more would be added over time - but now it's not clear that this is the case. So what use is the module?

If anyone else is interested in having this device supported, please post a reply.

All the more annoying since I was explicitly told that the profile *was* supported before buying it.

There is much better news on this front. I've just got it working.

There is now an "auto-detect Enocean device" item in the list. I'm not sure if it was there before - I'd swear it wasn't, but I could be wrong. If so, owe Zipato an apology! Whilst my ticket was open, nobody said "choose auto-detect", so either they just thought it was obvious, or was added a short time ago. When I originally checked some months ago, I just saw the fixed list of devices and didn't know which one to choose. This may be my fault.

Anyway, using auto-detect, the device is found successfully. You then have to use Device Manager to hide "Luminance Sensor" and show "Luminance" in Device Browser to get the lux value.

Many thanks!

Hi David,

Thanks for sharing. I am looking for exterior wireless temp+humidity sensors and I was thinking on using enocean devices as alternative, as I cannot find them Zwave. In my case I own a Zipatile.

My thinking was if protocol is supported, device should me supported. Did you have any list or explanation on which are the supported devices?

Thanks

I spoke too soon. It's visible in the Zipabox but always shows 600 lux so far... I'm not sure if it's a battery charge problem but it's been out in the sun for a long time. I don't know where the problem is.

There is now an "auto-detect" option for Enocean, so you could try that. If you haven't bought one yet, better to ask Zipato support whether that device will work or not. Open a ticket.

Update: Zipato have patched my box to make the sensor work. Something was wrong with the way the device was configured (perhaps because it was set up as a sensor rather than a meter?).

So if anyone has this device, ask for the patch and they should be able to get it working.
