Functionality to EASE replacement of defective devices
Under Consideration
May I humbly suggest that Zipato add a functionality to EASE replacement of defective devices, as follows:
Add a menu function which lists NEW (currently unused) devices on one side or a vertical bar, and functionally identical devices which cannot be reached, on the other side of the bar, allowing the user/admin to select ONE new device from the NEW side and ONE unreachable device on the OLD side, and then click "replace".
This would greatly ease the maintenance of Zipato rules, scenes etc. and perhaps also increase sales due to lowering the threshold for use.
No connection
Real-time notifications may not work
Well, such functionality in the web UI is, but it does not seem to work in every case. I know I have successfuly used this function before and also cases when I could not use it. Looks like an unfinished project.
Either way you can try and see if for the specific device it works or not. Go to Device manager, open up the main settings for the root level device (where the parameters can also be configured). GO to the last tab ADVANCED. there is an option to replace failed node.

In general, it needs to be easier to maintain the system. For example: why can't you find out where a virtual switch is being used? They're not included in searches when you write in the "Find" box. Or which rules a device is used in? Zipato often casually suggests deleting a re-adding a device to fix a problem, but this is very time-consuming when you can't quickly check where the device is being used.

Perhaps the new web UI will offer some improvements...
