Help with simple rule

Hi I am new to Zipato and am hoping someone can help me with a simple rule not working?

Basically I have just purchased a Zipabox (having just scrapped my SmartThings V2 Hub due to lots of reliability issues). But so far my attempts with the Zipabox, I have not even managed to get a simple rule working!

I have tried copying the motion active lights example on the forum's, but with the following differences.

  1. 1 x Aeon Labs GEN5 smart switch (Z-wave Plus)
  2. 1 x Aeon Labs GEN5 Multi Sensor 6 (Z-Wave Plus)

I know both devices are added and individually working as I can manually turn the switch on/off through my smartphone and I can see motion events happening. But for what ever reason the switch is not automatically turning on/off?

Anyone got any suggestions?

i dont see why this should not work, assuming the rule is synchronized and devices is working as you say

Hello Scott,

Try to modify your rule like suggested in the example below and do not forget to synchronize rules by using "Synchronize rules" in top right corner.

umm, in your total devices it says only 1 device is connected. Have you sync you devices after they were added on the left hand side (sometimes I do a page refresh also) then sync the rules on the right.

Hi Guys. Thanks for all the answers, but it is still not working! I have tried everything I can think of. even to the point of resetting everything and starting again. I re-added my devices and exactly the same behaviour.

@Antonio - I have try changing my rule to as you suggested and no change! I have tried several different alternatives as well, no difference

@Adrian - I had spotted that it was only showing 1 device, but in another view it shows 2 devices? see attachments.

I have also tried removing both devices and re-adding.

I added plug first = 1 device. then added sensor = 1 device?

so I deleted again and added sensor first = 1 device. then added plug = 1 device

Also tried a network heal, but made no difference.

Confused now!

Any other suggestions? If not I will try logging a support ticket?

One thing I haven't done yet is to try adding email notification in to the rule

Thanks

One other comment, after some research I realised that my Zippabox was sat right next to my nice new AC1900 router... so I have now moved it to the other side of the room just incase it was the cause of the problem.

Yes defineately try support@zipato.com

The only thing I would change in the rule is swap the time sensor puzzle (1st If Block) with the sensor motion puzzle(2nd If Block) or have and and variable and include both in the first If block. But it should work this way too

After a little more testing this afternoon, it would appear that my rules are not working at all, unless I am missing something?

Tried a simple email rule that when motion to email me..... I fully expected it to spam my inbox, but nothing. so changed this to try email me on a schedule and again nothing. see attached.

I have now emailed support as suggested. thanks for all your advice.

I think if one rule is faulty, all rules will fail due to the box is compiling all your rules into one script.

Your first screenshot should work, it's the same as I have and works flawlessly.

Try to disable all rules and just keep the auto light rule.
