Mobile phone connects to the WiFi switch on lamp?

Jacob Wiqvist shared this idea 9 years ago

Is it possible to zipabox, to do so when Mobile phone connect to WiFi at home putting on the light, a scene, or another event?

The opposite turns off the lights when the phone is no longer in contact with the home network over wifi?

How to create a rule for this if it goes?

Not with the zipabox. But you can use tasker for this and a virtual sensor from the zipabox.

Is there any chance you or someone how have done this can show how with pictures of the rule and what to do in tasker. And sorry for the dumb question but what is the tasker and where is it?

And by the way if it is something with android I use IPhone!

Please

Thanks in advance!

Tasker is an android app.

If you use a Iphone...i can't help you.

So with IOS there is no chance to achieve this with zipabox?

Zipato any chance you can implement this?

Best regards Jacob!

Is it's possible but i can not tell which APP to use.

You have to have a APP that's triggers on WIFI and then sends a http request to your zipabox.

See this post:

Another ide is to use gps position? A little heavy on battery use thow!

Better try your ide, I will look for an app!

Try ifttt not sure if it requires a jailbrea.

i have done it on a iPhone its possible, cant remember the app...

That is pretty important, should be many how wants to achieve this.

Or how do people like the lights to be controlled when you get home respectively are away.

There are some different ways:

1) Motion control with Zwave ir sensor.

2) Door lock

3) RFid tag

4) A "home" "away" button close to the front door

6) Schedule

Or a combination of al the things?

But IMO only a "home" "away" button, RFid tag works. I am really unsatisfied with the IR detector from Fibaro. If I sit fairly still in the sofa the light goes of. So I don't se any use of IR sensors. Except for alarm system.

If there was a ultra sound sensor, or microwave sensor that is Zwave compatible. Like this one http://www.hytronik.com

This really works.

What méthodes do you use to let the system know that you really are there or not when sitting in the sofa watching TV?

I'm using my phone (and my wifes).

When it's connected (or near) my WIFI >> i'm home

To know when i'm not there i use Phone Cells, WIFI at work and GEO location. Works pretty good.

it is possible to measure the power consumption from your tv an add this to you pressed rule

you need to add a timer to the pir form 45 min for me this is working well

photo

Really smart about the TV I must say! Did not think of that. Only imagination that puts a stop.

But the 45 min rule is to much IMO max 5 minutes. If the lights stays on when going to bed or leave the house the girlfriend will be furious. :-)

I really want the system to be as smart as possible.

how would I go about getting this to work with Tasker? I have no idea how Tasker works, or even the virtual stuff in Zipato.....

>> Make a virtual meter in your zipabox

>> Write down the url for that meter

>> Install tasker

>> make a new profil

>> Wifi >> connected >> etc

>> Make a new task >> http post

>> Put the url in from the zipabox and give the value 1

Then make a rule in the zipabox

When virtual meter = 1

etc

(something like this :))

Thanks, tried something like that, but no luck :(

When I add a new task in tasker and choose HTTP post, I don't really see an URL field, just a server:port field, so I paste it there.

There is not really a block either that has the option: when virtual meter = 1.

So I made something like attached.

seems like it is set to 1, but my alarm doesn't switch.

Any advice where I am screwing it up? :-)

Thanks

If you want to use the alarm in the alarm creator make sure that the quick arm option is on.

But first test with a lamp/message.

tried it, but nothing happens. :(

I found the issue. As the state was already set to 1, sending the http post from Tasker didn't change anything. So I set it to 2, and now when I send from Tasker the alarm switches to armed.

Cool, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

i don't think this will work whit Zipato...

I think he menas the previous statement from super man ;-)

No, what HeroS proposing is the way to go.

this will work

I want to ask Zipato if ther is any plan or eaven possible to implement wifi sensing to be use in rule native in Zipabox. If this is not possible then I know.

Maybe the app could be the sensor, and we could use this in rules. This would be fantastic. Endless possibilities, with Wifi sensing would be fantastic.

Don't know if other boxes have this?

photo

I don't think so. Most phones and tables will turn off and then periodically toggle wifi while their screens are locked and that doesn't sound like something that would be useful for rules.

Thank you for the answer Filip!

Ahhh I see. Then what is the best way to know who is home in rules? Or hardware wise?

But you could use a rule that only trigger when you get home and or have a wait block so that if you are disconnected more than x time and your geo location is more than 500 meters from your home it set to "not at home"?

Does this only work with GP? Or how does this work?

Found an answer hear to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/35139847/ios-listen-for-network-connection-changes-with-app-in-background

Any way, could it be done the other way around? That Zipabox talks to the router and get access to se when a device is connected? I don't fully understand how all this works but there must be a solution? Right?

When searching on the web there are many that asks about this!

Everyone always have there phone with them?

Any way if anything comes to mind pleas tell us, it would be killer feature, that many hope for!

No one except HomeKit engineers knows how HomeKit home/away detection works exactly, but it's pretty safe to assume it uses iOS' native geofencing features, which is what we plan to do in the new app. As an MFi partner, we aren't allowed to discuss our possible plans with HomeKit until/unless we complete certification, so let's just say if/when there's any news, we'll announce them. It's not just up to us.

It sounds promising!

Hope it does not take to long time. Any ide of time frame, month, years?

Best regards Jacob

We'll talk more about time frames once we start the beta (for geofencing and other app features, not HomeKit, no comments about that).
