Music and Zipabox

Under Consideration

Why is only Sonos compatible with the Zipabox (ie change songs, volume)? I have a Yamaha Musiccast setup that I love. Why cannot it be included in the system? is it due to hardware or software? Are there any plans to make Musiccast compatible in the near future?

Cheers

In order to get a direct answer I would recomend you to open a ticket on zipato support. But, usally any new development takes a LOONG time with zipato so dont expect it soon.

Thanx. Will try that and post any answer here...

If your Yamaha has Ethernet access and supports http commands, you can use it. I have only network at receiver and use it sorted music. Fairly limited as every task requires a separate hot command but works.

Look at my posts on controlling Sonos speakers and check whether Musiccast supports HTTP Requests so that you can do something similar.

Thanx guys, I did send a ticket and Zipato replied as expected: (..."don't have time now, but maybe in the future IF enough people requests it"...).

David, I had a look at your posts. I'm impressed, but I don't think I'm there just yet. As a beginner, I was looking for something fully integrated out of the box. My idea was to have a set up with the Fibaro Swipe in the kitchen, and just wave to change songs or up/down the volume. Or wave to get the weather forecast read out lound (and control security).

If I may ask; Sonos, being somewhat compatible, is that due to that Sonos work on the Z-wave-mhz, (ie hardware) or is it a wifi/http tweak? I'm not very good with these things, so apologies if I got it messed up. What would it take for Sonos to do what I want? Do the gents at Zipato need to do some work?

Cheers

Ulf

Unfortunately this is just the way Zipato is, they integrate third party products to one point, in some cases is good enough in some others like this one they fall short. Zipato is aware many people wants this feature, there were many posts time ago, which is when David came with his workaround, which is complicated for most of the users. I think part of the issue why zipato didn't include more control / integration is for limitations on their system, like using string variables.

And only Sonos, there are so many other systems out there now and many other controllers are offering integrations for these. Again I emphasis the need for a plugins/drivers platform as Zipato will not integrate alot of features the community want.

I agree, there are many brilliant guys around here that I'm sure they would help or do the job for zipato via plugins.

Once you've decided on a ringtone, the next step is to search for the perfect one. A good ringtone should be memorable and resonate with your personality. Despite the abundance of a wide variety of mp3 files, there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution. You must explore your tastes and discover new acoustic sounds to make your phone ring to your heart's content. If you're still looking for the perfect mashup for your phone, here are some great ringtone download websites that will help you find the perfect jingle for your phone.

Has the problem been solved yet? Because I can't complete the installation either.

Just recording a track is not enough. To make your music popular, you need to actively advertise your songs and use music blog promotion.

I would also really appreciate a Zipato - Musiccast feature!

Samsung Multiroom support please

Allplay by qualcomm supports numerous vendors, and would be a good option. They all are. Improved Sonos support for TTS to a Sonos or DLNA player would be ideal.

Plugin/addon/driver store is vital for Zipato add features and product support.

I'm curious, did it get developed eventually? I think it could be useful for many people, there are many music creators or just music enthusiasts. Well, I can say that most of the time, I just download music with Tubidy, and I can say that I've never had any problems with that. However, I know a few people who find it pretty inconvenient because of the limited features, so there's definitely room for development.

I think you know that Spotify offers many ways to promote your music. In addition to Spotify , you can also promote your music on other social media platforms. But I would recommend the service www.spotistar.com, where I buy plays and followers for my account so that my music will gain wide popularity and it will make me money.
