Nanoleaf Aurora

Under Consideration

Are there any plans to make the Nanoleaf Aurora panels compatible with Zipato?

The API does not yet exists. So unable to integrate even if Zipato would have spare resources.

This looks cool, I like the product, and even if they are willing to do integrate it, will take some time,

Well, I have searched through their website and have found somewhere that they hub supports also Philips Hue and Osram and some other brands protocols... Definitely looks promising - another kickstarter company with bright future ahead.

I now have 26 of these panels on my wall and the look fantastic.

IFTTT integration is expected this month.

picture please!

When I get time I'll pop a picture up.

Not sure how well a picture will turn out as the panels can be very bright and might not show a true reflection.

Play a little with diafragma and shutter time, on auto most of the time the result is terrible.

You can apply for beta testing and there is an API draft.

Looks promising... maybe I'll buy a set on my next visit to US.

The product is really nice, so is the app for iOS. I ordered 2 more sets and will try to make a dinner table ceiling lamp. IFTTT works fine and rather fast, from Flic to NanoLeaf I have about 2s delay. Next step is to make it work with my ZipaTile.

their api is expected to be released in May/June

I managed to control my Aurora lights using my Zipatile.

What you need is:

  1. FW 1.1.39
  2. The IP address of your Nanoleaf controller (I used the iOS app "Scany" as it also shows the port for the API)
  3. Send a POST command to the controller as described in the API docs under "7: Authorization"
  4. Note the response "auth_token"
  5. Make a rule triggered by a button or remote control for your Zipatile and use the http PUT command from the API docs (8.3: State)

Works like a charm!

I've been trying to control mine using IFTTT with no luck so far.

Do you have the correct FW? I got IFTTT working but decided to go for the API way as this offers more control than IFTTT. API is also faster and not depending on a 3rd party.

I'm new to IFTTT so not 100% sure what I'm doing.

It turns out there was a problem with the Zipato firmware. Since the latest update my IFTTT rules work perfectly with my Nanoleaf Aurora panels.

Great to hear it works for you now. I like those panels and they have some nice surprises in the pipeline fo 2017!

I saw on the web site there are some surprises coming this year. Any idea what they are?

My guess: remote control, different shapes, music beat sync (maybe with Sonos), community based effects.

I've seen the remote and the music beat sync on the web site. I'll be buying both when available.

That 12 sided remote looks very stylish, and hopfully very customizable.

Indeed, the remote looks pretty neat!

My IFTTT rules have stopped working with my Nanoleaf Aurora panels. Has anyone else had the same problems and know of a solution.

Mine still work.

Are you using the Webhooks app and sending an HTTP request from Zipato rules?

photo

Yes, I do. But sometimes the NL stops responding to API commands at random, a reboot of the NL usually helps.

Thanks Ivo,

A simple reboot did the trick. I'll rember that for the future.

No thanks David, glad I could help. I’m searching with the NanoLeaf team to solve this issue, it happened to me quite often. However since I changed my network from Netgear to Ubiquiti it never failed again. May I ask you: What kind of dhcp server and Wifi AP are you using?

I get my broadband from Sky so I use the Sky Q Hub they sent me.

This is the first time this has happened to me. I've been trying to put it right since last Friday and have deleted and remade the IFTTT applets and Zipato rules many times not knowing a simple reboot would have solved the problem.

Good luck in solving the problem.
