Nodon wall switch reacts allways after second press

Solved

I have a nodon wall switch. In 9 of 10 times the switch reacts only after the second press. Looks like it has to wake up and then worked. Can I change anything in the settings? My nodon octan works perfectly.

I have a Nodon wall switch in Cozy white and have no issues at all. I have it outside and I have started to inspect problem with the communication when the temperature is below 0. I have not changed any parameter at all.

I also have some Nodon wall switches and I can confirm that behavior Andreas mentioned above.

In most cases they react only after a second press sometimes even after a third or fourth press of a button. I tried to simplify the connected rule for a button, but the problem is still there. As mentioned above it seems to be a "wake up"-issue?!?

Funny thing is that until i read about this post i did not have such issues, hosever nos it is a different story. My circumstamce however is hopefully different as mine is located outside of the entry door of the house and as such this time in winter it is easily below 0 degrees so definitely the battery is the issue (it is only certified to work from 0 degrees.

Still the problem is there. Has someone a solution. Perhaps reinclude?

Yes reinclude and remake all rules

I had the same problem with some of my nodon wall switches. It seems that if you delete them from the system completely and maybe also delete all the rules where it is used (not sure about this), the switch will work without a wake up press.

I did that with 3 switches. It worked with all of them but after a while one has gone into the same behaviour again.

Overall the nodon switches seem to have "connection" problems in strange ways. Also range is very limited. I also use a few Remotec ZRC90 Scene master switches. They work all the time...

Hello,

I have a brand new Nodon 3-6-03 (grey) soft remote switch. Manual here. It has different features and config possibilities. Currently what I pretend is to direct associate buttons 2(+) and 4(-) with a Fibaro Dimmer. Then buttons 1 and 3 to launch different scenes. But I am doing something wrong for sure, because I don't manage it to work.

I have added the device to my controller and set as Duo config. Then, via assotiation Group 7, have added the Fibaro Dimmer. Then Set > Save > Sync.

But this doesn"t work.

Have someone managed this device to work with direct assotiations? Am I doing something wrong or any step is missing?

Thanks for your support

According to the manual, you need to tell the nodon wall switch to work in duo mode via parameter. bor buttons 2&4 it is parameter no. 2, byte size 1 and change value from 0 (default) to 2 (duo mode). Without this change in parameter, the nodon will only communicate with the central gateway.

More info see the manual 2nd page middle section.

Thank you Attila. I do have that config, but still not success. Question: do I have to do something else on blindings or something else on the other device (the device to be controlled)?

Thanks!

Dear all,

Please try to replace the battery by a new branded (Energyzer / Duracell / Varta ...etc.) one. It often solve this issue wich comes when the battery is going down.

@Pablo : if you have updated your Fibaro Dimmers to last release, this it may be because they are now using encrypted frames that are not supported by the switch.

Regards.

Hi Nodon Support! Great to have you here. That must be the case, yes. No direct association neither MONO nor DUO parameters. I believe the association itself is properly done by myself...

I have solved the issue via rules for each button-action, but this was not the initial reason for my purchase. Direct association was. Also, many lines are needed for something which is automatic with associations!

Nodon, are you planing to support this Fibaro communication encryption method?

yes, great to see you here Nodon Support. Thanks for the input.

ps love your Enocean products, when will we see self powered Z-wave contact sensors, etc? Or zigbee 3.0 green energy versions?

@Pablo,

If you are talking about FGD212, you have no choice to use scenes as the module can not be included to a non secure network (or you can downgrade firmware version to allaow non secure communication).

We are working on Zwave encryption but we don't know yet when it will be available.

@Adrian, many thanks for your feedback :-) You'll see green energy products when chips consumption will permit to. Hope next generation will allow it... :-)

I have changed my batteries on the switch which was always reacting on the second press and I can confirm it is working now without any problems!

thanks Nodon Support for the help.

Hi all,

changing the batteries solves my problem as well... at first. But after a few weeks all my switches fell back to their old behavior (reaction after several presses). It's really frustrating :-(

Is there a possibility to update the firmware of the switches? Or any other ideas?

Thanks

Guido

I have the same problem that Guido. In order for the commands to work, I have to press several times, despite the fact that I am correctly performing a direct association.

@Guido

I did check with Nodon support and there is no way to update the firmware.

But you can contact Nodon support. They are very helpful. They asked me to send in all serial no. from my switches. Maybe try this...

Thanks

Problem with the switches is that they use flat battery of 3V. I have one outside and when it gets colder, the battery level just drops and is not capable to send enough juise to the command hence why it do not work on 1st try.

If you have it outside, best would be to provide constant 3V to it.
