Only generic device names in Rules Creator

Tim O'Pry shared this problem 8 years ago
Solved

The device names being displayed in the rules creator are only the generic types vs the names I entered/saved in the device browser. See attached image showing the favorites/device names I created on the left 'Foyer Table Lamp' and 'Wall Switch1' - but in the rules creator those do not exist, just On/Off Plugin and Root Device.

I have saved/syncrhonized several times and restarted/logged in out numerous times over several days - but the names in the Rules creator never match.

What am I missing/failing to do?

Update: In the old rules creator, I can right click on a device in the rules creator list (right side) and get a context menu that allows editing the name property. The context menu does not appear in the new creator, just the default browser context menu. I tried with Chrome, IE 11, Safari and Firefox. All work with the old creator, none with the new one - so where / how do I edit this in the new creator?

You have to change the name twice. Also in the subfolder(s) of the device.

Dear Tim,

Did you make any changes in Control Center or Rule Creator after you publish this post?

Because our team have checked your controller and they didn't find generic device names in Rule Creator.

Best regards,

Pero Zovkic

I was able to change them using the old / prior version of the rules creator (as mentioned above) - but the same methodology does not work with the new one. Should there be a context menu in the new creator?
