OSRAM Lightify Surface Light not included

Thomas Dalsgaard Thomsen shared this problem 8 years ago

I'm unable include OSRAM Lightify Surface Light to my zipatobox. During inclusion the lamp is detected fine initially with "device found" and the lamp blinks to acknowledge, but the inclusion process simply just times out. I have now 3 or more lamps with the same result. Tried resetting the lamps, but does not help...

However, I included a number of other OSRAM Lightify without any hick-ups:

OSRAM Lightify Surface Light TW

OSRAM Classic A TW lightbulb

OSRAM Classic A RGBW lightbulb

So it's not a problem with faulty HW.

Zipato DUO ZWAVE/ZIGBEE/433MHZ FW: 0.9.999.8a S/N: 011BFC1A0E01E4B1

If anyone got this working please let me know :-)

Hi Thomas,

I can't help you. I think these lamps are not supported. Contact support about this.

Another thing don't post your serielnumber on this forum.

Thanks for your reply. Any way to change ones post to remove serial number?

Also, how do you contact support? Seems you need primium subscription or?

Hi Thomas,

I have running:

OSRAM Lightify Surface Light TW

OSRAM Classic A RGBW lightbulb

with my zipabox.

Inclusion was not as easy because the Lamps had been connected with the Osram Gateway before. After resetting the Osram Gateway i was able to include the lamps.

The only difference - i´ve made the inclusion with 0.9.999.6

Thanks Gerald.

Yes, my SL TW also worked fine, but the SL only ones do not... And I have 5 of these so hoping I can get it working!

Just to inform anyone that the OSRAM SL now has been added as supported device :-)

Jacob, google? :-)

Nice lamp (or not, depends if its me or the mrs looking at the pictures) with built in zwave controller.

I would like to see some images of it installed in a real home. What do you say about snapping a few Mr. Thomas Dalsgaard Thomsen? Pleeease ?

Yeah, I'll try to snap a few images tonight ;-)

One correction though: the OSRAM Lightify uses Zigbee just like Philips Hue. Except as I understand it, OSRAM complies with the standard whereas Philips does not!

Yes of course, zigbee it is... Seems to have some nice LED product with nice light in them.

agreed, better light clarity and lumens than the Hue variety. And more types to choose from. And work with Zipabox with Zigbee expansion module, no extra bridge needed.

Yes, I can testify that the light these lamps give is very high quality indeed!

As for taking a picture of this with a smartphone - not so good :-/

Thanks for the photos! They are kind of discrete, is this the 38 cm versions? i bought two smaller once, maybe that was a mistake.

They look great. I though it was the inside section that was the light.

Is there more than enough light from them? What size room are they in?

The Surface Light comes in 3 different sizes. The actual core of the Surface Lights are the same but the light cover/diffuser is different. This one is the 38 cm version.

Yes, the actual core is 22 watts which is really a lot of light, considering it's a LED light. And the light coming from the lamps are really the best LED light I have seen.

The size of the room depends on the application. E.g. different room have different requirements to intensity. However, as these are adjustable you can tune them to the room/application type.

And I like the casual/discrete design meaning they can be but in a room without taking to much attention. E.g. I have some other designer lamps that I also wanted in the room, that do attract attention ;-)

Also, you can add the normal bulbs into existing lamps and get the same great light/control.
