Power monitor - WIRED to the clamps?

Need Answer

Hi,

Am I right in thinking the Zipato power module is hard-wired to the monitor clamps? I thought the point of Z Wave kit is it's all wireless? I guess I need to get something like the Aeon device to wirelessly monitor my household power?

Cheers,

Steve

Using Google Translate I get the gist of the article, so the clamps do just plug in then. Completely negates the point of Z Wave and wireless!

Anyone used the Aeon device?

In my opinion, the Power module is for DIN-mounted Zipaboxes, when you hang it on a wall or in a box near power input. With this module you power Zipabox directly from breaker box (without 12V power adapter medium) and you also calculate other consuming loads in your breaker box.

If I am to place Zipabox in the breaker box and unable to connect LAN wire there directly - I suggest to use the Backup module with 3G-modem... And if mobile Internet in the area is absent or wildly expensive, just get the PowerLine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-line_communication) DIN module from Gira or Devolo, and plug the other corresponding module into the router (or even buy the compatible Powerline router, the standard is called HomePlug: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomePlug).

as far as i can remember the Aeon are not 100% supported with all function and not all version.

Looking for a solution as well to monitor the entire house energy but so far i have not found a good solution that works with zipabox

Problem with P1 is that i live in Sweden where we do not own the meter in the house and are just assigned a smart meter of the gridowner.. And the smart meter i have does of course not have P1 =(

I agree with steve, why not make a wireless monitor. in most houses the meter is in the basement, NOT a great location to set a wireless function as zipabox. Will deferentially have range problems

Would be nice of people would share there solutions and how its working with zipabox
