Qubino smart meter and relay

Eric T. shared this problem 7 years ago

Hi, I bought the rail mounted Qubino Smart Meter + relay , but it does not seem to work within the Zipato environment. I managed to include it into the network, but the metering does not work and I also have no way of activating or deactivating the relay.

Does anyone have a solution? ANybody can help by any chance?

Thanks

Interested in this topic, as I am about to install the one just received!

I also left a message on Qubino's support, for I don't think a lot of people have this equipment yet. Did you buy the relay too?

The smart meter only, but I pretend to use the output 5 for controlling a Schneider relay I already have

I have several Qubino devices and all work. I have Qubino Flush 1 Relays, Qubino Flush 1D Relays, Qubino Flush 2 Relays and Qubino Flush Shutters. All of them are meters, which one you have?

At the beginning I had problems to include it but once I got the handle on Qubino devices it all went good. The only device that has compatibility issues is the Qubino Shutter, it does not report values for current consumption and also Zipato does not support the Benetian Blind Mode (the interface does not allow you to tilt the blinds).

Hello Alberto, thanks for the feedback. The product is this: http://qubino.com/products/smart-meter/

I will install it and try the inclussion and will tell you. I hope it tell the current consumption, as it is one the key features of the product.

By the way, Fibaro switches report properly the current consumption. Doesn't it Qubino ones? Have you open a ticket?

Pablo,

As far as I can read the meter itself does not have a relay, it says you need to get external relays. I would look at the manual to see how to include it with the external relays.

I use qubino since in Mexico is much more cheap to buy Qubino devices than Fibaro, for some reason Fibaro it is way overpriced, also before buying the shutter controller I had Qubino flush relays and worked perfectly.

I have ticket opened since a few weeks now (for current consumption of Qubino Shutter), it is an issue and Zipato is working on it.

For the smart meter after inclusion you will need to change a parameter to tell the qubino to use the external relay. Then exclude and reinclude.

I have no idea if it is supported, but I can say that I had PWM thermostat and it was never successfully integrated to Zipato despite working together with support. the switches and dimmers on the other hand seem to work fine.

Yes Attila, that is what the guy from Qubino told me to do. I'm gonna try tomorrow.

Hello Zipato, this topic has been categorised as "Known". What does it mean? Is Qubino smart meter supported? Thanks for your feedback

Pablo,

I think the status of topics are automatically acknowledged from the forum system, sometimes also Zipato support changes status to "answered" and so on when they feel someone has answered the question, etc.

If you want a direct answer from Zipato, open a ticket on Zipato support. They will tell you if it's fully supported.

Hello Eric, all,

I managed to include the Qubino Smart meter and it works ok with Zipatile. But:

* Power Reactive (var) is missing

* Power Reactive cumulative (Kvarh) is missing

* I have not tested yet the external relay function, but I pretend to

For the two missing measurements I have opened a ticket and I am waiting for an answer.

Regards!

Hi Pablo,

I have included mine and it works fine. I can display 6 measurements:

Cumulative consumption (in kWh)

Cumulative consumption (in kVAh)

Current Amps

Current consumption (in kWh)

Current power Factor (I don't know what it is!)

Current voltage

My relay still does not work, but the guy from Qubino told me to create a parameter (see below), then to exclude ad reinclude the meter. I'll try that tomorrow as I am not on the premises today. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

============================

Procedure to get the meter to recognize and pilot the relay (not tested yet)

  1. Go to Device manager.
  2. Click settings (on smart meter)
  3. Click configuration parameters.
  4. Set custom parameter no. 100 , size 1, value 1.
  5. When this is set exclude and then back include the module.

Hi Eric,

Any chance to test this adding paramenter 100 - 1 - 1, exclude and include again? Did it work?

Thanks.

Yes, it did work... Right after I tried this procedure. Now it doesn't anymore, I don't know why. But at least it worked once! I'm super busy at the moment so I funny have the time to investigate, but I will...

I know for a fact that one of the installers tried this parameter change, exclude and include via Fibaro Home center and it did work. at the reinclusion the device had another endpoint as relay and it was working fine.

Hi, I can't include the smart meter using my zipatile.

The discovery for exclusion starts, a device is found but the countdown drops to zero and the process fail...

How did you manage to exclude/include the device?

I tried to press the s button for 2 seconds, then for more than 6 seconds, I also tries to get very close to the device but no luck.

The green led on the meter is blinking green fast.

Anyone coul give me a suggestion?

A ticket is already open.

Finally I managed to exclude/include the Smart Meter in my network.

I can see it in device manager with all the right settings, everything seems to be correct.

Unfortunately, in device browser I can't see any data coming from the meter.

Eric, I am following your instructions but not able to include it back...maybe it is just to insist... Even more

Pablo,

if you are on Zipatile, try to start the exclude/include process from the Device Manager screen.

Don't start the process from the main screen.

This is the only way I can manage to include the smart meter flawlessy.

photo

@Pablo do you see the Meter in the list of devices?

photo

Luca, the tip regarding the usage of the Device Manager works great! Excluded and included again succesfully on the first trial. I will never use again the add device of the main menu!

I can also use the ON/OFF switch (not the IR) BUT:

* I cannot see the status on the Zipatile. Only on the web UI or mobile APP 8)

* status is not updated accordingly: I have set param 13 (auto off timer for this switch) to 1 sec. So the switch works this way, ON and after 1 sec, automatically goes OFF. But on Zipato it still says ON. Even if you refresh, synch, logout/in...

* And the biggest BUT is unfortunately I see no measurements!! No data!

I have e tried resetting factory default and exclude and include again with no luck. So I have sent a support ticket and it says "In progress". I will update.

Eric, if you have e any news also share it, please.

My ticket is open too...

In the meantime I also asked Qubino for support, but it seems that they have no solutions to provide.

Let's wait for an answer from Zipato...

A little bit more info: it is definitively a Zipato issue. If you try to get the intensity Amps that you are consuming currently via parameters, this you can do with parameter 141, you get the value in Amps.

e78379be5a45079ce78ed587bf721f43

But this value is not displayed on the Tile device...

This is indicates there is a bug somewhere, but Qubino Smart meter is sending the meter values properly.

Hello, support has solved this issue partially: you just have to exclude and include again the Qubino Smart Meter. Then you will have back the values.

Issues remaining for me:

* These metrics are (still) missing:

- Power Reactive (var)

- Power Reactive cumulative (Kvarh) is missing

* Relay output nr. 5 is not working

According support, they only deal with Certified ZWave products as per: http://products.z-wavealliance.org/

By the way, Qubino Smart Meter does not support secure communication yet, according Qubino Support.

Hi everyone. Can you confirm that the Qubino smart meter, when joined with the Zipabox, provides you with the current power consumption as an attribute that is usable in rules?

Qubino claims that the meter is "Z-Wave Plus Certified" but I couldn't find it listed.

Brilliant! Yes. Thanks Pablo.

I have tried to add the Qubino Smart Meter three times to the controller (the last time using a 7-meter network cable to get the device (now installed in my electrical panel) close to the Zipabox, as recommended in the manual. Each time the result is the same. I get the device hierarchy in the first screenshot (I have renamed "Meters" to Qubino Meters and "Whole Home Meter Simple" to Qubino Smart Meter). I have also played around with "show as device" in different nodes, and tried setting the device type to "Generic Meter Meter" (after inclusion it was blank). I can never get the attributes to appear. The device I see in "Meters" under "Devices" on the right-hand panel is "Qubino Smart Meter", with no attributes (second screenshot). From your screenshots I deduce that it should be "Meters" (i.e., the node immediately above the attributes) which is the visible device. Like I said, I've tried to make it show up as a device (screenshot 3), but no luck.

I'm talking to support to see if they can help out. Any tips? Is this just the Zipabox screwing up when it adds the device?

In the end support fixed it by reapplying the descriptors.
