Roadmap Zipato?
I would like to know more about Zipatos road map?
What are the plans with home automation?
What should be integrated?
Sound?
Film?
Will all be controlled from your app and through rules?
My thought is that Zipato should examine the 10 most common brands in each country?
And implement them.
Then, oddly enough, they have integrated Sonos, but no suport for Spotify, Spotify Conect, Apple music, Apple Airplay, or any of all of the stereo brands that have these features.
Had there been support for controlling Logitec Harmony One Hub, it had suddenly been supported for 100,000's of brands and products. To control music, audio, video, set top box and more.
Had there been a Zipato PC aplikation who could control things. Even more advanced things could be done.
Will there be support for Apple TV, Crome cast? Then, there should be support for controlling all stero equipment. It suddenly becomes very much stuff to do for Zipato.
So my question is what is the goal of Zipato, and what the plans are, within one month, six months, one year, 10 years?
That said, soon Logitech with Z-Wave support and suddenly can Logitech control 200,000 products plus Z-Wave. Maybe you can use them together with Zipabox but who knows?
It would be interesting anyway to know what the plans are and how long different things to take. How many are you working on Zipato?
Sincerely Jacob
Another general thought is that regardless if you have a big Castle or one singel light, that you want to control Zipabox should be able to do it.
It alred can control a lot of things. But media is missing.
For example I want to control my home movie setup with projector and so on Zipato can't control that at the moment.
I want to be able to do everything with ONE click.
Start SCEEN Watch Movie:
1) Projector starts
2) Projecor is set to HDMI input 1
2) Projecto curtain go down
3) Ps3 starts
4) Onkyo Reciver starts
5) Onkyo Set input to Game input HDMI 4
6) Onkyo Sets Output to HDMI output 2
7) Onkyo Sets Sound program to THX movie 5.1
2 hours later the movie has ended and it is time for bed.
I push a "Listen to Music" wal switch and everything switch mode
1) Projector turns of
2) Blinds go up
3) Projector projection screen go up
4) Ps3 turns of
5) Onkyo receiver go to input AUX1
6) Onkyo start listening mode STEREO
In the Zipato app it understands that I want to listen to music so it starts a plugin or something with Spotify buttons(play, pause, next, previous, artist playing) A little like Bang & Olofsen BeoPlay. ( AirPlay or DLNA - and with built-in Spotify Connect )
Then I hear that it is som crapy music on, and directly push another wall switch in the living room that starts next song. Did not even have to take the phone upp from the pocket.
And of course the motion sensors in the hallway and bathroom turn on the lights af 43% because it is night 01:22 a clock and when I have brushed my teeth I just say "Siri, google or what ever" God night and everything turns in to night mode.
When I wake upp my Artificial sunrise slowly open the blind in the bedroom and I hear the kid in his room calling "MOTHER" "FATHER" "MOTHER"
Take the phone from the night stand and start the web camera in the kids bedroom and see that he is trying to climb out of bed. I start the multi zone speaker and tell my son to wait that I soon will be there.
Turn on the TV in his room and set it to Disney Chanel, father can sleep som more minutes.
In the future I also want the front door to unlock when I arrive home and automatically open. But that is hard to achieve with to days regulations in Sweden.
Something like this!
What do you think? Dream senario?

And with al this in mind.
At the moment I can control al my lights with zipabox and blinds. I can use my harmony remote to control the stereo and TV and so on. And I can control Apple Music with the music app. 3 different apps and no "ONE" click situation, No switch songs on a wall switch. No Play, Paus Film on Wall switch
So there are some things left for the Automated home but hopefully Zipato have thought abut it or otherwise I have given them some things to consider. Integrating of one singel supplier of, ea. blinds is a very smal task.
But as I have sad before the APP interface is extremely important and where Zipato want to go with the app and hole system.
For example the BeoPlay App you can start Youtube and air play on TV. That is a lot going on in the background.
But a nice Spotify integration in to the app is probably quiet important if you want to run the romantic SCEEN beside the POOL that turns waterfall on starts a romantic playlist and set al RGB lights to a RED glowing light, alittle like this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMJTr4Y_7q0
And then with a few glases of alcohol in your body, it is good if the app interface is super smart and clear, like my example with dimmer control and app interface. I have no ide how hard some of this things are. But I can imagine that there is a lot to do to accomplice al this. If there is shortcuts with hiring some dedicated app programer and every week have a meeting to set gols for the week. And maybe integrate things that already work lika Logitech Harmony.
Ok the rich guys will probably not use Logitech, but It is a shortcut for the poor man to the rich mans world:

Is there anyone at zipato that can answer?

Hey Jacob, nice rant. I too would like to know a roadmap. Zipato seem to be slowing down or is it just me. I haven't seen any great additions in the last 6 months, mean while Logitech, Smart Things, Brillio, Echo, Insteon are on the rise and supporting the most popular brands. Albeit not all well. We really need a multiroom sound system supported, whether it is sonos or allplay or bose. I know you will never have all the options available as in the propriety app, but some options would be nice.
But Jacob, for IR you can integrate a Global Flex which can allow any ir device to be controlled, or use the IR extender that can do most things also. I would like to see a bluetooth module, with a Apple Homekit enabled Chip, and a proper Kodi or Plex plugin that would allow notification popups and camera views.
I'm starting to worry that other manufacturers are starting to catchup, and with their lower Controller costs and no or very minimum subscription costs, Zipato will start to suffer.
Maybe open your software to encourage coders to make their own add-ons or submit them to you for integration.

My god Adrian!
You always have intelligent constructive comments. +1
Any way, I can have patience with zipato if they just say what the goals is, and an a little bit about the futures and whats to come. I have looked a lot at Control4 witch seams to have it al. But zipato could also have it all, if they just worked more with the software, and integration of things.
It is really fun to automate your home, but it is moving to slow.
By the way it is not meant as rant even tow it can sound like that.
I like the dark interface of the app, like spotify and others. Apples white interface for everything does not work good in the dark.
Best regards Jacob

The question for the roadmap is still unanswered and the roadmap is really something important to make decisions about technology choices. You see not only homegrown home automation enthusiasts read this forum and ask questions but also people who analyse this technology along with other technologies to make decisions for their customers. And problems start when zipabox has features that are not available in other systems but from the other hand it lacks basic features available in other systems.
When I read on the forum that support for additional inclusion controllers is planned from 8 months then I think how on earth you expect a professional would deploy your wifi-disabled box in a big house when he needs to run on two floors and several rooms with power cord and network cable?
I hope that you get what I mean - after trying Vera Edge and Fibaro I thought that Zipabox has more potential in terms of usability. But from professional deployment perspective you lack basic features that make deployment faster or you have functional issues (nothing special comparing to competition) but they are declared as being solved and yet unsolved for months. That doesn't build trust required to make business decisions.
Think about roadmap.
