so just purchased these items and i am unable to add a zigbee device because it states that i have 0 credits...WTF!

it ddoes not state anywhere that i have to pay extra to add a device!! and i see no way to buy credits or even see what the cost is as its voucher numbers only....so i figure i might pay if i get a reliable platform or at least some grace time to set up and test. but i am not paying anything more than the near £200 before testing..this is just disingenuous.

where in these product pages does it state an extra cost to add a zigbee device?? so i take it i am putting everything back in the box and returning it then?

true, not the nicest message to be confronted with. Just send support an email next time. You also get a far quicker response this way.

which part? the part where i am incredulous as the first user experience is to not be able to set up the device i have paid for because i am being asked for more money with no way to pay! i thought i was quite reserved!

support is very good at zipato, some may disagree, but overal a lot more responsive than any other company. As for the zigbee payment, I am sure this is just a fault by accident. Any expansion module is free to use and add devices, personally i have never seen this before. Hopefully this is rectified in the newest firmware update.

Don't loose faith Stuart, I personally cant wait to see what you bring to the table, new products, ideas, and smartthings compatibility,

yeah it was said it was a hub provisioning error. my initial response was just one where i thought i had missed the point where everything was licensed.

The ST integration by the looks of it would be very simple. what i am looking for using Zipato is to hopefully run my Zigbee and Zwave network reliably, as this is not something ST can achieve IMHO. but i think having a Hybrid solution involving another product be it Zipabox or another along with Smartthings as i think Smartthings is pretty unbeatable in its openness of the platform for developers allthough that may be about to change...who knows

yes i think smartthings will start to become less open due to security risks, I think if people are going this way they would be using rasp pi instead. I only tested the original ST, version 1, and it was horrible. Threw it in the backyard for the dog to play with, very good this way. But I have heard ST 2 is pretty good.

Is there any reason why you are still sticking to the ST hub and not trying to integrated everything into the Zipabox? I would like to hear your thoughts on pros and cons

The only reason i am looking around at all is because of their lack of regression testing when introducing fixes, its very much one step forward and two steps back all the time..

but i am just looking to introduce some further reliability.

I stick with the ST hub as i have some pretty advanced automations which would be difficult or impossible to achieve on other platforms, and it is an excellent platform for developers. thats why i stay......im hitting a log of big stumbling blocks so far with the zipabox.....specifically around lack of device compatibility.

Adrian,

anyway it was noce to speak to you, i have taken the decision to return the product, even after being in touch with support there was simply no way forward for me to achieve what i set out to do. so i have just finished packaging it up and it will be on its way back...back on the road to searching for the product i seek... Zipato was close, but just not close enough. and looking at the past timeframes of the zipabox i'm not sure if i have the patience to wait it out.
