Need Answer

Is there a diagram of a 5 wire HVAC connection to a Zipatile? (Red=Power, Yellow=Cool. Blue=Unswitched power, While =Heat, Green=Fan)

Is this for a reversible heat pump for A/C and heating?

No, just a regular forced air system. Typical in the US.

OK I now realise that the Zipatile has a built-in thermostat - didn't know that! (I just have the Zipabox).

I found this:

https://community.zipato.com/topic/can-zipatile-replace-a-dumb-wired-thermostat-with-its-buit-in-relays

It sounds as if a 5-wire system requires an external thermostat.

Thanks, however this thread is not clear to me either. The Zipatile theoretically replaces a thermostat, but the wiring is not specified. If Zipato is serious about the US market, this use case will come up again and again.

Yes, there's a persistent problem of thin or non-existent documentation. I guess the solution is "open a ticket". They're usually pretty good at answering questions.

I recieved this by opening a ticket in case someone else is looking

It would probably save them support time to make this stuff available on the web. :-)

Also a note for Zipatile users, not sure if this is fixed on new version or firmware updates, but the inbuilt relays are already pre programmed into the included virtual Thermostat. Found this out when a client returned a Zipatile as we thought it was faulty. Turns out the thermostat was activating the relay that he had a lighting circuit attached to. Couldn't understand why the lights would turn on/off randomly.

Again no documentation to forwarn us

Adrian. This will not change. Imagine that zipatile out of the box acts as a smart thermostat. if it would not be geared up for this relay, it will not work out of the box.
