What are good door/window sensors

I have some Fibaro FGK 101 door/window sensors and my experience with them is very very poor.

Firstly you HAVE to associate them within 1m of the zipabox for them to be recognised at all.

As far as I have read, this means that the z-wave route between zipabox and sensor is consequently fixed to always directly communicated between the devices. This implies that ALL my fibaro sensors HAVE to be within range of the Zipabox.

I have tried putting repeaters in my home (plug in on/off switches) and these are supposed to set up a z-wave mesh to allow all sensors to talk via the mesh. However, it appears that once the sensor has been associated directly with the Zipabox, it is impossible for it to be moved out of range.

I was under the impression that the repeaters would pick up the signal and relay it to the Zipabox but it does not seem to work like that.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Can anyone recommend a door/windows sensor that can be associated via a repeater rather than solely via the Zipabox controller?

/Marcus
