what are the best and most reliable door sensors you have used?
Need Answer
I have tried a few sensors now, and the only one I have found to be totally reliable are the Nodon Enocean sensors. Fibaro were ok most of the time, the Zipato door/window sensors continually drop offline and need to be bypassed all the time, the 4in1 sensor are very good.
I prefer Z-wave sensors, but would be interested to hear people thoughts on the most reliable sensors they have used, excluding sensitive strips as we can not get them

Hi,
I'm using following sensors:
Aeon labs: Door/Window Sensor 6 (ZW112)
Vision: Door/window Sensor (VIS_ZD2102)
Fibaro: Door/Window Sensor (FGK)
All of them has good function and are reliable.
I think I prefer the sensor from Aeon labs because of the design and it's chargable.
Regards

Hi Adrian,
i´am using some of the Zipato/Vision Sensors and i have absolut no problems with them.
How about the Strip? Seems also very stable.

thanks guys. I found the Zipato/vision sensors to drop offline or have communication issues if not used regularly. Fibaro similar, though I have not used a Fibaro sensor for a while now.
I did not know the aeotec are rechargable, thanks Tobias I'll check these out.
Yes Helle the strips I can not get here.
I like to Enocean sensors especially as you never have to worry about batteries, hopefully with Zigbee 3.0 green energy solution they will start to come out soon in this protocol. Otherwise i'll have to wait for the z-wave options like this, though this is sometime off according to the alliance and alphas testers.

Hi Adrian,
send me an Mail, i think we can resove the problem with the strips ;-)

aeonlab and zipato 4-1 very stable for me, strips are 95% ok, but now and then spontaneously report OPEN state while door is closed as much as it can. Open/Close door is the solution.

Hi,
I tried the Fibaro sensor but had problems with the inverted state...
Installed 3 x Aeon Labs Door/Window Sensor 6 and apart from the Zipabox showing red dots sometimes (but no problem) I find them reliable. I have to charge them about every 3-5 months....just a few hours...battery reporting is accurate..

I have used fibaro door/window sensors, and Zipato (vision) quad and multi sensor 4. I find Zipato's are more reliable and have better range. The fibaro ones give a lot of problems with the tamper alert, they are smaller and stylish but don't work always.
I have had a few range issues with the Vision ones but I think it is a legitimate problem (they are far from the zipabox).

Overall seems the 4in1 sensors are the best. I like the idea of the rechargable Aeotec sensors, but only lasting 3-5 months is a little inconvenient.
The strips seem very interesting and ill drop you a line derHelle
I have also used the recessed Aeotec/Vision sensors and found them to only last about 6months at best too.
I am going to test some Zigbee HA sensors soon too.
It is a shame there are no nice looking sensors (like Fibaro) that work very well. I am getting a little tired of all the cheap plastic looking sensors on the market. I know derHelle, i contact you about the strips.
THanks again everyone, nice to get your feedback on this.

I like the strips, but don't put those directly on a metal surface as the antenna is on the back and will be shortened by the metal. I used a 3mm thin foam pad and that does a great job.
+ Very thin, can be placed in the window or door frame (If not metal).
+ Works great
- Battery cannot be replaced

I have several different door sensors. Worst ones are the Zipato door/window sensors. Had a lot of Problems at the beginning, but for now they seem to work. Only battery Status is always empty.
Best ones are TKB TSP01 3in1 sensors. Have four of them and without any problems from the start.

Oliver

The New triangular Aeon sensors are cool. And they are rechargeable, meaning you won't have to shell out 10-15 euro every so often for new batteries...

I also like the triangular Aeon sensor. Not only cause you can paint them over making them really blend in, but also for the previously mentioned recharging possibility. Door sensors are often at the edge of the z-wave network which can cause them to drain battery very fast if they need to re-check the network availability all the time. It has already saved me ones =)
A side not, very easy to just detach the sensor for recharge, not at all the same fuzz as removing other fixed sensors.

How long does a charge last on the Aeon Triangular sensors? I haven't purchased any yet but have looked at them. I'm new to this and am still building out my system. Thanks!
