I have a Zipatile v1 running Android version 5. The latest Sonos app no longer supports Android versions 5 and 6. Is there a workaround to make this app work on the Zipatile?

Hi Hector

You can use the function Volume, Pause, Play, Stop, Back, NEXT in the zipato App. I know it is possbile to add additional Apps on the Zipatile but thats not the main task of the zipatile. When Sonos stopped the support for Android 5 and 6, there is nothing what zipato can do. The only way is to upgrade the Android Version but i'm pretty shure thats will not happen.

I'm using apptoid as an alternative app store and it still provides updates for my Zipatile 1

What version number have you got from apptoid?

I'm running Sonos 10.5 now. I must say I have some issues with Apptoid itself. I might need to do a reinstall / upgrade of Apptoid manually.

PS: I use spotify myself though. And you're also able to group rooms via a URL call in the rule creator.

I can't get either version 10.5 or 10.6 to work on my Zipatile 1.

I just updated to 10.6.1 Just open the browser on the tablet. Do a Google search for "aptoid apk". Should be the first hit or so, download the apk. Make sure you have the Android security setting enabled to allow to install apps from outside the app store. Install the apk. Open Apptoid And search for "Sonos". Should do the trick. 3 minute job 😜

Edit: Since this last update the Sonos app tells me my android version is no longer supported. What this means is that you need to do certain "Settings stuff" on your mobile. But normal functionality still works 🙂 Media controls, grouping, using services and playback from those, etc
