Zipatile and Zipato App: App is constantly crashing

Simon shared this problem 7 years ago
Solved

Hello,

switching from Zipabox to Zipatile (which is pain in the neck) the ZipatoApp is crashing all the time. Also if you click on Update in the App i always get an error that the Tile is not reachable???

Wifi is working (two days ago the Tile disconnected, but now it lokks ok), The Tile, Webapp, and the App on Tablets is working.

Sometimes on relogin the State is not showing (opened or closed) it shows up after a couple of minutes.

Question: Is this behavior ok works as designed or is it misconfiguration and can be changed by myself.

Any ideas are welcome

I think I have same or similar issues. Generally sometimes I also experience that i turn on the screen and after pressing something the error message comes up saying that the Zipatile is not connected. After a few retries it starts to work let say in 30 seconds. Looks like the Android application is going into some sleep mode and turns of the communication module.

I saw once after turning on the screen that the WiFi icon was not there and it appeared in 5 seconds...

Hi Muriel,

I'm sure I have 1.0.8. It was an upgrade on Sunday I think. I have a Fibaro RGBW module and sometimes when I turn it off via the tile, the report of the meter consumption stays.

The experience with the connection is after I leav ehte zipatile resting for a longer time Lats say half of the day. Upon tapping on the screen (gesture to wake up), the app is still in memory. Now If I press something, it might not happen. Shortly after the error message pops up saying that your Zipatile/Box is not connected to the server.

This is as much as i can describe right now.

Hi Muriel,

I am Using App Version 1.0.4, it tells me it is the most recent version.

I already moved 34 Actors and Sensors fom the box to the tile. I have the impression it is crashing most of the time i add a new device. But the app is also crashing without touching the tile or adding a device . Maybe the reason is a specific device sending an update but how to find out?

Can you please give me a guide how to figure out if the registration is finished correctly? During the first days using the tile sometimes the tile showed up twice in the webapp but this stopped 3-4 days ago.

Simon

Hi Muriel, I just checked the web app. See the screenshot - it is offline. I did not physically interfer with Zipatile today.

Greetings,

Zipatile app instructs the operating system to never go to sleep and to always keep the wifi connection active. Wifi connection should remain active even if the screen is off.

Here's a couple of things you can try:

1) If this happens on a daily basis, try to configure the screen to always remain on. At least for a day, just to see if this will ensure that the wifi connection remains active.

2) Try a different wifi network.

3) Try to configure your unit to use a static ip address for the wifi interface.

Also, please confirm that you receive an email every time your controller loses and regains connection with the cloud.

So right after i appriached zipatile i did a screenshot by holding the on button + volume down. The screen turned on and i took a printscreen. The WiFi is missing. by the time the printscreen was saved the wifi icon appeared and the zipatile is now online.

This is a major issue that I need to be looked at.

BTW, my customer who had the broken zipatile display mentioned to me that he has experienced this as well. I did not have zipatile back at that time so I could not comment.

Hallo,

According to the link, the tile is registered fine.

Last night i left the tile and today in the morning the App had crashed again.

By clicking some lights with tiny rules behind it crashed two times.

Now IT seems to work again.

Btw: It is the Zipatile App which is crashing not the Client App.

Hi Marko, last night I experienced a reset of the app when it suddenly showed the mobile number registration and location. I have included this in the ticket I raised yesterday. After this window (I could not remove it so I had to go through the registration again) I had my alarm and my thermostat reset completely.

I also experienced this kind of problems. I also had a page to enter a Wizard ID.

After rebooting the Zipatile several times it worked and did´t came again since a few days.

Hello,

24h+ no crash at all.

Zipato Support did a very good job.

They found a Device which was not working well and it seems that they installed a new apk. Less then 2 days from opening the ticket till solving. Well done!

Now the tile works really fast and stable. I'm happy again! It is always a high and low with new gadgets.

Now i can start to move completely from Zipabox to the Tile.

One tiny issue resists: The Update from the App is not working most of the time, sure it will be fixed soon.

BTW: Is it possible to order a new display shield? I applied the shield without a lot of passion with all the initial issues.

Happy Week End

Simon
