Zipato PH-PAN08.EU and SmartThings UK Hub

Alex Barbirato shared this question 8 years ago
Need Answer

I have a SmartThings UK Hub and have recently bought a Zipato PH-PAN08.EU to control one blind through my Amazon Echo (that is compatible with the Smarthings Hub, but not with Zipato's).

Unfortunately, it seems that both products don't talk to each other properly. The SmartThings app recognizes the Zipato unit as a "dimmer switch" and, although I have been able to add it to the system, I cannot control it.

Question: what is the best alternative now? If I buy a ZipaBox, will it work together with my SmartThings hub and devices? Is there (or will there be in the foreseeable future) a way to connect Zipato to Alexa?

Thank you,

Alex.

Zipato has REST API available for integration with other systems. So integration between Smartthings and Zipato is possilbe. However, we don't know when this will happen.

As for the Alexa, this is certainly in our plan for this year.

Just a quick update. After some time and several device inclusions and exclusions, I finally managed to make it work with my SmartThings UK Hub and the Amazon Echo. Now I just have to say something like "set blinds to xx percent", and it woks fine. The Hub identifies the Zipato device as a dimmer, and once identified, the Echo will be able to control it.

Hello Alex. Can you share what did you do to connect the zipato motor controller to the smartthings in order to close half of the curtain. For me it's working but I only can keep the curtain completely open or close, but I cannot get the curtaint to be half open. Can you guide me please

I just found the solution.... just press for 3 seconds the button and the curtains will open a close a couple times, and then the standard device handler from smartthings will be able to open 50% or 60% or whatever percent you want.
