Integrate Zipabox with external alarm system (Verisure)

Under Consideration

HI,

I have an external alarm system that I want to integrate with my Zipabox. There are no open api for the system itself but you can buy plugin switches that can be set to react to different events in the larm system (fire alarm, burglery alarm and alarm on/off can be set individually).

So my thinking is that it should be possible to connect these plugins to z-wave plugins and then measure the consumption on each plug...so if for instance the alarm is switched off the Alarm plug will switch on a lamp and then the zwave-plug will start using electricity making the z-wave plug send a message to zipato.

So do you think this is a doable way? Anyone already done something similar?

Zipato has a security module for this. Not sure if you alarm system is supported though.

Fibaro has a Universal sensor that can be used also and for as far as i know. I have even seen solution with the Fibaro Switch Module.

Best would be to wait for an answer from the Zipato Team or create a ticket at http://support.zipato.com

I use the Fibaro binery sensor to to this

@Slashroot: I've checked it out but the problem is that Verisure has a closed API so it doesn't seem to be any way to communicate directly with Verisure. Only options I've found so far is the plugs or their web page (where you after login can check status by parsing a web page).

@Lars: I'm really interested in how you did this. What are you measuring with the sensor and how do you distinguish between fire, alarm and alarm on/off)? Pls keep in mind that I'm a novice in this...learning by doing.

Hi Johan,

It seems you would be able to get status reports from your Verisure system https://github.com/suhajdab/verisure-api

If you would be able to send a command in http format you would be able to turn sensors on and off. If fire - turn sensor fire on within Zipato and use this in a rule

I see the system can send SMS and Mail so maybe with IFTTT.com something could be done, but i assume this will not work i a blink.

I will look and see if i can find more :)

Wow, thanks!!!

I'll dive into it asap and let you know how it goes. Either way I really appreciate your help!!!

I have used the Verisure plugin switch to signal my automation system.

I did it by setting a 12V power adaper into the Verisure plugin switch.

The 12V power supply powers a 12V relay. And the Relay NO output contact is hooked up to one of the inputs to my automation system.

So when an Verisure event is triggered, the relay is powered and the automation system input is in return triggered.

At the moment I am using the Nexa WBT-912 as the input into my automation system.

I would like to replace this with a Z-Wave input device, at some time down the road.

Hi,

@Slashroot: Checked it a bit closer and realised what the "api" does is to log in to the Verisure site and check the status there. I think this solution would contain to many traps as it jumps from Zipato to a webserver (running the script) and then to the Verisure site (my pages at Verisure). So thanks for this but I don't think this is the way that I should go.

@Öystein: Beside congratulating you to the gold Northug got (what a guy) this looks much like the way I was thinking although you had a more refined solution. Right now I'm leaning towards buying a Greenway 6-port z-wave plug and use that as a bridge to the Z-wave.

More ideas and thoughs are welcome though

@Øystein Hansen: I like your solution. I also have verisure homealarm.

I´m thinking to use 2 smartplugs. One to indicate if it is armed or not and one when alarm is triggered.

2 smartplugs

2 relé type http://www.kjell.com/sortiment/hus-halsa-fritid/larm-sakerhet-overvakning/larm/detektorer-sensorer-brytare/universalrela-p50602#ProductDetailedInformation

1 fibaro universal sensor http://www.fibaro.com/manuals/en/FGBS321-Universal-Sensor/FGBS321-Universal-Sensor-en-1.2.pdf

2 12v adapters http://www.kjell.com/sortiment/el/stromforsorjning/nataggregat/ac-dc/stallbar-utspanning/stallbar-natadapter-3-12-volt-p44108

Is that a possible solution?

Thanks for all the good solutions.

I'm looking into terminating my Verisure deal and just use Zipato for the security but would like to run both services together for a couple of months and see that all is working as it should. Using the above solutions would let me have full control and see that my Zipato solutions is working as planned.

Mats V:

Do remember that the Fibaro Universal Sensor would need a separate power supply.

The rest looks good.

A would also suggest an enclosure to make everything neat.

Hi friends,

How would i set up Mats V example? I would like to integrate my verisure alarm with vera edge.

The big question is, why one would have Verisure and ZIpabox at the same time. Its the same thing... They even use 866 Mhz devices, so its just another Z-wave controller but you dont have admin access, and have fever accessories. But you can control the lights, add a doorlock, you can order extra devices from they´re homepage.
