Need Answer

Hi,

I had some issue with my internet connection the last days (no internet). I had some lights on therefore I was unable to turn them off. I have tried to access myzipa with he ip address but it did not work and also with the ios app but when selecting local instead of remote, the app was searching, seaching, etc... forever.

What's the trick.

Thanks for your help,

Frank

I sent you a mail yesterday but still waiting for your feedback? Does it mean that it is not possible to handle the zipabox offline???

Frankie,

Zipabox can be configure from the cloud . . . it is for the moment the only possibility because of this is the zipato's choice . . . include management interface will need a more powerfull box and probably a more expensive . . .

However all rules still working without internet connexion ...

Thanks DaBoss. I know it should be online to configure and work with rules but my question is simply to turn a light on/off. How to tuen a light on/off when no internet connectio ?

Thanks

Ok. Frankie

This is a really bad point of the zipabox ... when cloud is unreachable there is no more interface to make action like turn on/off light.

Zipato still working on the api from cloud and local one.

Today they are making big change to it . . . we still waiting more than 1 year about this full local api.

Mobile application will have (on day i hope) a local mode in order delete this problem. I know, before migration iphone to android and install the mobile beta, zipato made some trial to implement local mode but rewriting all the api will maybe this implementation done later again

Waow... thanks for this! I know that zipato has many issue (bugs, strange behavior, etc... best example being 2 years after launch firmware has not yet reach v1) but I can live with it. Conversely, not being able to turn off or on a device because internet access is down (offline) is NOT acceptable for me.

Hope it will come soon (or debug the local mode of the ios app)

Best.

Today here is mentioned again "try connect locally". From where i can find an istructions for how i can connect locally to Zipabox, and what functions are in use this way?

Hi, I currently have no internet connection. When I try to connect locally nothing appears in the list when I click the down arrow on the login page. This means I am unable to control thermostat or disarm the alarm!

Any ideas?

Zipabox is connected to router via poweline adapter if this makes any difference.

Same problem for me. This worked when I used this functionality a couple of months ago, but I don't see any local connections anymore.

And Zipato, naming it "remote connection" when it's a local connection is a bit strange ;)

My broadband came back on and, now, I can see the box when I use the 'down' arrow. This seems all the wrong way round... Is there a problem with the service? And Eric, yes, the naming does seem very unintuitive. The fact that I had to search the internet to find out how to log on locally seems to prove that...

Your are right this should be displayed a lot better, even an option in app to do this rather than having to logout.

Did you try reseting your Zipabox via the hard reset button? Also sounds like it may have been an issue with your router. Could you see and use other devices on you network at the time?

Is it possible to do control locally the devices with Zipato Controller with out internet?

Even without Internet your rules are working. All associations do also work. But you cannot add new devices or change rules etc.

not really, I have a rule that when i press a wireless button, 2 zwave sockets switch on, and when press the other button they switch off. Today I pressed the offbutton 3 times, and nothing happens, looking at my box i see the green light is blinking, which means no connection to server.

As reported in another thread, seems rules are not working without a connection.

zipato must find a Good solution for this realy bad issue

it is very very important

customers dont like to lose connection with box

even in local mode

please find out something fast as fast u can

Again I think a local "server" module (physical add-on to box) would be the best option. This means Zipato would finally Work "off the grid" like the rest of the controller products out there, be more secure not connected to internet and do away with the load/lag issues on my.zipato.com for operation. Box would only need to connect for updates and storage etc.

A server add-on would be very nice. I'll buy it, when it is available.

Hm. I think it was expensive enough in the first place without having to buy any extra stuff to make it function stand-alone. Cloud-dependency is not acceptable, imo.

I have a cheap unit including 433 MHz addon for sale..

I know the cloud dependency is for some of my friends the main reason not to buy many of the z-wave solutions out there. I know many people would step in when this dependency was not needed or only to get upgrade/updates
