Can hard wired sensors be used to build rules (assuming security module)

Need Answer

If I were to purchase a security module and some hard wired door sensors. Can these hard wired sensors be used in rules?

i.e. If patio door is open (hard wired door sensor) and it is dark (a separate z-wave lux sensor) then turn on the patio lights?

of course. All sensors connected to the Zipabox are treated the same by Zipato platform.

Hi Sebastian, Is this not a major differentiator for your product? If so, why not tell the world?

Personally, I feel that the z-wave protocol is far too weak around which to build a security system.

My issues are:

a) z-wave signal range attenuation issues

b) requirement for mains powered devices to set up a z-wave mesh

c) sensor registration appears to work only when very close to the Zipabox. When the sensor is moved to the final destination then if it is too far from Zipabox then it goes off line - EVEN WITH REPEATERS BETWEEN THEM!!!!

I have now come to the conclusion that the only reliable way to build an alarm system around a Zipabox is to hard wire sensors and use the "security" module along with a "backup" module. And only with that option can use a hard wired - battery backed weatherproof external siren.

Would an external siren also be seen as a Zipato device which could be used in Rules?

it would be nice to have a multi IO interface.

something like the security module, whit 8 inputs and 8 outputs.

mebay som analog inputs and outputs.
