Combining Somfy and Qubino/Fibaro

Need Answer

Has anyone combined Qubino or Fibaro relays with Somfy blinds or awnings? Do the Somfy remotes continue to work as normal? How difficult is the installation?

I dont think it is possible. If a blind motor has a buit in receiver, the incomming wiring is only L, N and earth. There is no separation to L for UP and L for down.

Correct, thats not possible.

What you could do, is create a rule that activates when the somfy motor moves and copy this position to the qubino/fibaro motor relay. Obviously they wont move at the same time, and you cant control the q/f motor relays independantly via the SOmfy remote, but its a option.

But a Somfy RTS motor does not have inputs for a q/f motor relay to control it, it is 433 RF only.

Sure, I know that Somfy works with 433 on Zipato. I have 8 Somfy blinds and awnings :-)

I was just interested whether there was a way to get 2-way communication between them, because 433 control is dumb. Intermediate positions between 0 and 100 don't work very well, and commands frequently fail to get executed. I have it working pretty well now because I issue commands three times to make sure, but still, the Qubino sounded nice.

So, as I understand it, the Qubino and Fibaro relays would be installed in a switch you have on the wall to operate the blinds? (I don't have wall switches, just remotes...)

Which then means that the relay has no way to know the real position of the blinds?

David, This is exatly the problem. If you would have wall switches with actual wires, you would not have a motor with bult in 433MHz received. Because you have a received built in, it is not possible to control these via anything other than 433MHz as there is no signal wires going to the device, where one wire is signal up and the second is signal down.

https://en.robbshop.nl/about-z-wave/z-wave-projects/somfy-connection-via-z-waveWhat you can try to do is to get a remote control and wire the signals to a Qubino or Zipato or Fibaro shutter, but still will be no real 2way communication.

I have done this with my blinds with Build-In-Geiger-Drives (see https://community.zipato.com/topic/support-for-tedsen-or-geiger-drives-433-mhz-and-workaround ) It works fine (see picture). However, this is not a cheap solution.e3d3dfbee515f121ebf8454d35082398

I use a similar work-around to exchange some signals between 2 independent Z-wave controllers without http-request (http would depend on internet and zipato does not support https).

Qubinos works better in that matter, at least there is two way communication as you mention and even if you trigger the qubinos from other device with direct association it reports back the position to the controller (with a delay of course). However there is no real way to know the position since you don't have a positioning device such as an encoder or resolver, it is all based on time configuration and remembering last position commanded.

As Attila states, the problem is that your motors only have L and N wires going to it, everything else is internal. Motors meant to work with qubino shutters usually have at least 4 wires, L, N, Up, Down which is what connects to the qubino. You can also, if you want, wire inputs to the qubino from a switch or switches to control the shutter without need of the controller.
