Connecting directly to local Zipabox

Need Answer

Hi guys,

I've been trying to figure out how I can connect directly to a Zipabox on the same wifi that my mobile devices (Android and iOS) are connected. I have the latest versions of the Zipato apps, and I've tried to follow the instructions found here:

https://community.zipato.com/knowledge-base/article/establishing-local-access-connection-via-zipato-mobile-application

-and I've watched the video several times.

I still cannot find how to connect. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

if using android phone and the latest app, it should automatically connect locally. When the app opens it will say "you are connected locally with the current box" IOS i am not sure about.

Adrian,

It doesn't work for me: The iOS app doesn't have the option of "going local", and the Android app will automatically connect to the remote server and from that select what I believe to be "the first Zipabox created on the account". The Android app may, however, work for someone who only have one box, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like I have this possibility at all.

Robert,

It used to be a manual selection. Now the app decides if it connects automatically or not, during the last server problems I had problems logging in with my phone, I think it was because my phone remembered I logged in through the internet and was trying to go through it, what i did is to close the app, restart the phone, connect to my wifi and then open the app. It connected locally, actually you get a message saying that.

You should not have to do that right? It should always connect via WiFi when at home right? Like the PhilisHue App do???

Yes it should be automatic, and usually it does. During the server issues was the first time I saw that.

I'll experiment more, including connecting the mobiles/pads via the same wifi, selecting the local box on the same lan, and disconnecting the wan from the router to see if I still have access.
