If your DVR supports start & stop recording by http commands.. it's simple.
With rules you can start and stop video recording of your dvr in response of an event.

I started to use Securityspy with http API support and it works like a sharm.
Upon arming of my alarm i set the ACTIVE state of all my cameras. Upon motion detection the software will record 20s and upload the files to dropbox.
When alarm is disarmed the software will again set the monitoring for PASSIVE.
It would be nice if this could be solved within ZIPATO.
