Eurotronic Stellaz

Solved

I'm trying to use the above radiator thermostat. SETPOINT_HEATING is showing 22C but TEMPERATURE, THERMOSTAT_MODE, SETPOINT_DRY_AIR, and SETPOINT_COOLING are all blank. Anyone else have this issue?

We don't support this thermostat yet. We have the one already, so we will probably support it.

Weird as it says on screen it's supported by Zipato?!? Any idea when it'll actually be supported?

Support is coming in a few weeks.

Zipato team told me by email two days ago.

Hope so waiting for it.

Thank you for the update Walter.

I just tried adding my stellaz today and it comes up with a temperature now!

Yeah a lot more info on this device would be good. I'm having problems installing it and getting my Zipabox to see it.

Hi Ray,

When you added your stellaz, what did you select in the 'add device' wizard to get your network to see your thermostat? Whatever I select my network can't see my device. Ideally I want to select the correct device type. Thanks a lot!

Hi Alistair,

As with all z-wave devices you just need to select 'Generic z-wave device'. Last time I tried it the modes were all messed up so I packed my Zipabox away in the hope it'll be some use as I have too many devices it doesn't support!

Hi Sebastian,

Is the Stellaz already official supported?

Yes, this product is supported now.

How do you set the mode as asked in the OP? My radiator stays cold so so it appears the valve is closed no matter what setting I use!

I've just tried again for a fifth time to get my network to see this device but it won't. It just keeps saying 'processing' and that's after selecting the 'Generic Z-Wave' when adding device. What a pain.

I installed 1 of my 3 StellaZ’s in the kitchen for testing.

The installation was very easy with no problems. (generic Z-Wave device)

After the installation the StellaZ was available under Meters and Lights & Power.

Meters:

Battery status 81% (decrease 19% in 11 hours)

THERMOSTAT_MODE values HEAT or 0.00

TEMPERATURE value of temperature

SETPOINT_HEATING value of the temperature set in the Climate Widget

Under events the StellaZ is reporting every 4/5 minutes

THERMOSTAT_MODE value undefined

TEMPERATURE value of the room

VALVE_POSITION (12 % 0:00 - 20% HEAT)

The problems:

The StellaZ is not responding to the Values set by the climate widget

SETPOINT_HEATING shows the temperature set bij the Climate widget.

When the temperature of the StellaZ sensor is reaching 22,5 degrees is starts heating until the value reaches 23 degrees.

Batterylife is decreasing fast 19% in 11 hours.

How do I set Direct Valve Control: BASIC SET 0xfe, THERMOSTAT MODE SET 0x1f

and how do I set Wakeup interval?

Eurotronic information (complete set as attachement) :

DirectValveControl:ThismodeallowsthedirectcontrolofthevalveaspercentagevalueofopeningusingtheZ-Wavecommandclass’SwitchMultilevel'.The regulation of a temperature within the device is deactivated.

The wakeup interval can be defined between 4 minutes and 180 day in steps of 4 minutes. The factory default value is 7 days.

It is possible to set the node ID to 255 to send wakeup notifications as broadcast. In this mode device takes more time to go to sleep and drains battery faster, but can notify all it's direct neighbors about a wakeup.

You can set the wakeup interval in the configuration of the device but it doesn't limit you to values expected by the valve (steps of 4 mins)

Thanks i found it, still having problems with the devices. On factory default the device run in Comfort mode. According tot the manual the value can be adjusted by the respective Z-Wave command 'Thermostat Setpoint' to a value between 0 °C and 50 °C.

De value in the climate widget reaches de valves but they ignore this setting. If i turn the heating off in de climate widget the valves stay in comfort mode instead of closing the valves en turn off the HEAT.

"When i set de thermostat OFF in de climate widget the SETPOINT_HEATING of the valves shows 8 degrees. But the valves don't stop heating."

Answer Zipato:

Yes, there were users reporting the exact same behavior. But the biggest problem right now is that we don't actually have a StellaZ unit in our lab.

So i cannot precisely say what exactly is happening. Until we receive our samples, i cannot say who is to blame here, the climate widget or the stellaZ.

A workaround would be to just set the stellaZ into MANUAL_MODE and then control it manually with the rule creator. At least until we receive our samples.

The workaround I made (tested and working!!)

- I removed the stella's from the climate widget- Add a virtual switch, the virtual switch is the (only) output for the climate widget- Add a rule Heating > when virtual switch is on then set al valves THERMOSTAT_MODE value MANUAL_MODE then set de valves 55%- I made a rule Not Heating > when virtual switch is off then set al valves to THERMOSTAT_MODE value OFF

Any update on the fix for the Wakeup-interval which currently throws an errors saying maximum value is -241911.53... which therefore won't let me any any sane value?

Open a ticket at http://support.zipato.com/, i will handle your problem from there.

I am using 3 stellaZ's now for over a month, and they work ok. I set the Wake-up interval to 12 min.

When I try to set the wake interval the configuration page won't save due to the value being out of range as I mentioned above.

Hi Milan,

Does Eurotronics stella Z report temperature unsolicited or it report temperature only on request.
