Is there a way of looking at the logs to see if a rule was run.

I have created a few simple rules to switch a light on at a given time and then switch it off at another given time.

First time the rule ran fine.

So I created some more rules and they alll got accepted but now it not seem as if any of them are running.

Is there a log file I can look at to see what is happening ?

I don't think you can. Could be a nice feature. In the meantime for debug purposes I put a send email action in the rule to check if the thing is running.

A (debug) log would be really nice when things become "unexplainable".

No, this is not possible. You could send a email but this is with delay.

Thank you for all the prompt replies. its a shame there is no way of digging deeper and seeing the logs as its such a great product.

John and others email is a great idea and its fine to tell me the rule has run but what I am more interested in is when they do not run - why is it.

Also was hoping to get some 'eyes' into the 'unexplainable' items as Marius said.

I wonder if its on the product road map.

Proper logging is a vital feature and must be included.

Currently what we have is the view of events at the bottom left, which shows when any state changes occurred in devices (actually it shows if the value of a switch was set, even if it didn't change). What I do is create a lot of test switches and insert them into my rules so that I can follow what's going on. I can see what happened to their values in the event log.

The advantage of this is that you can see immediately whether the rule executed/a condition was evaluated to true, etc.
