Ivona Text-to-Speech conversion service with Zipato??

Hi all,

I'm not an IT guy so I know very few about HTTP programming, I just recently bumped into http://www.ivona.com, which is an amazon Text-to-Speech service. I registered and been trying to find out how to make it work with zipabox using HTTP requests without luck. Has anyone used this service or any other Text-to-Speech in order to use it on zipabox.

My ultimate goal is to make my sonos system speak based on triggers at home.

There is a product that is called Ham Bridge that works very well, I have my Mac tell me what it is doing, as i place speech commands in my rules.

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but i looks very promising:

https://github.com/ugoviti/izsynth

It's a bash script for Linux that handles muliple ways to synthezise speach. It supports Ivona and many other tts engines.

You will need a linux box an some way to communicate between Zipabox an the script (use it inside a Python or PHP script maybe, that can be called by http from Zipato)

With Ham Bridge I create a command called Front door then in the command box I type say " there is someone at the front door" I create a rule with a HTTP Request configure

Method = GET.

URL = my IP address :8080/?FrontDoor

My computer will then say "there is some one at the front door" every time there is motion detected at the front door.

I think it is too much work/hassle to get tts to work with Zipabox. It would be nice if the Zipato would offer such a service, callable by designated puzzles in combination with Sonos, Chromecast, Alexa, Google Home..

I agree Zipato should directly implement this function
