Multiple binary inputs to Zipabox?
Need Answer
Hi All,
I'm new to Zipabox, so apologies if this is an obvious question.
My Zipabox is right beside my security alarm, and I would like to pick up the PIR and door sensors and use them as binary sensor inputs into the Zipabox. I have a total of 9 door and PIR sensors.
I know I could use Fibaro Universal Sensors, but I would have to buy 5, making it pretty expensive. Or I could get the alarm module, which would give me 6 inputs, and I'd still need two Fibaro modules..
But given that the Zipabox and alarm are right beside each other, is there any good way of doing this as a hardwired input?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Well, you could ask if the zipabox can work with two security modules attached...

Hadn't thought of that. I suppose that may a possibility, although pretty much cost neutral compared to the one security module and two Fibaro universal sensors.
Does seem a pity to pay for another whole security module just to use a small part of its functionality.....

I dont really thing 2 security modules can be used in one box. Zipato supposed to have a security expansion module that would allow more than 6 zones to be wired, however I dont think it is out.
Should check with Zipato is this is your plan.

I feel that I am talking a lot about the Z-uno without even having tried one myself :-)
If I understand this right, though, you might be covered using a single Z-uno. You will need some basic electronics knowledge, programming skills and a soldering iron, though.

Thanks - interesting suggestion,
Not sure I tick all the skill boxes, but that has never stopped me from having a go.....
Cheers,
Dave
