I understand, but my screen resolution has not changed.... Also, I just tried connecting from my retina macbook pro using native resolution of 2560-by-1600 and I still only see 2 columns....

It also depends on you browser inner width, so if inner width of browser is lower than 1200px your Dashboard will be presented in two columns. If you still have this problem even with resolution greater than 1200px then use right click on Dashboard and choose "Set default layout".
