New function, controller backup

Need Answer

Just discovered a new function under controller settings - controller backup!


Finaly! But when I tried to use it it says that I must buy PRO... is this correct or just a release bug?

I hope that backup is a basic function included in smart licens... or at least for users registered before 1.0.

It does not work even with PRO license. Tried it today afternoon.

Recently support said backup will be for Pro license only! I hope they change their mind. I would need the backup only to restore my Zpatile since I had to ask for a replacement due to a non functional sensor. So far I didn't return as its no option to re-include 20+ devices. This is really bad customer support, if you even have to pay money to resolve issues caused by the manufacturer! Simply not acceptable.

For me it is OK that it is a PRO feature but I guess in case of replacement and warranty issues the support would perhaps offer a free "one time backup and restore". I am pretty sure that you can ask for that one time it works.

I also tried it and have same results as Christophe. The only avaipable button links to something else...upgrading the functions based on the license. Guess it is not yet finalized but im also looking forward to this feature. Finally i would be able to replace zipatile in case it breaks down. One interesting thing is that if it is pro licence and the pro upgraded zipatile breaks down you should not pay another pro license for another controller just to be able to load back the info...not like cluster where every controller requires pro separate...

I just bought PRO to get this backup feature but it don’t work. Guess I should have checked this site first. A bad way to trick someone into buying PRO ;) I hope this will be available soon since this is a "must have" feature.

I bought PRO to get this backup feature but it still don’t work

When can i get what i payed for? ;)

PRO feature really ? I'm pretty sure if system fails on Zipato side, they will ask us to pay to recover all lost configuration and rules. They do not assume the basic service that goes with the sale of their box. They will not be responsible for anything in case of default, we will not be able to count on them that day.

I also bought the PRO license for this feature. As more people stated here, it's a dirty trick to get people to buy a PRO license! I know support said it's gonna be implemented soon but here we are 2 months further and just a promise is not worth 100,- dollars. I would also like to get what I paid for.

So it´s several months since "we're still testing the backup feature, it will be available really soon".

I also bought the PRO license for backup feature. Still nothing, no comments from Zipato, no updated release date, nothing.

Will this function ever be avaliable?

Most expected feature... cannot believe after a year they still cannot make it work. I guess the hardest part is the restore, not the backup.

Hmm, good thought. Thanks for letting us know that the service can be upgraded. I already did and indeed the magic expected window appeared. I§m currently in the middle of creating a backup and will try out the function for sure.

Well, tried it and throw an error. I only deleted 2 easy and disabled rule that I can recreate if needed.

Does someone have a secound box to restore onto this? I'm wondering if this will work. This is the case where the hardware fails and has to be replaced...

Simply said as long as we hear from Zipato (I guess some official announcement), it should be considered as not available option.

the backup went fine, at restore is throwing error saying unable to restore.

Ok, just to eliminate certain issues, I have upgraded to latest beta (same as i had before), refreshed the page, synched,...created another backup...

Now I managed to get the restore done without error message, however the 2 deleted rules are not back.

I also created a second backup and Im unable to restore that one. It throws error - perhaps some time need to pass before the backup can be restored. I have no error using the 1st restore. Still the rules are not back.

Ok, update again. Indeed a newly created snapshot requires certain time in order to work. Now the 2nd image is also not returning error at loading.

The loading of the image is fast, perhaps strangely fast as the deleted rule is not back.

Another update, I have deleted one device that Im currently not using. Same result as with rules, not back after restore. The restore takes too quick to finish, so this definitely confirms the fact TO WAIT TO ZIPATO TO CONFIRM THE BACKUP IS FULLY WORKING AND CAN BE USED.

Maybe they finished backup but not restore yet. :)


Seriously, Zipato needs to publish a credible timeline for when the feature is finished.

To have the feature in the interface, demand payment for its use and then its not working...and no explaination why not or when....that is fraud. :(
