Oregon Scientific wireless performance

Need Answer

Hi,

I have two Oregon sensors and I'm disappointed by the poor performance of wireless transmission. As long as the Zipabox is directly seeing the sensors (15 meters free of obstacles), it's ok. Once it is installed behind a wall, the 433Mhz module stops receiving informations.

Is it a normal performance ? Could it be an antenna issue ? Does anybody manages to receive Oregons sensors when the zipabox is inside the house (standard situation I guess)?

For comparison, the Oregon Station gets updates behind 3 walls totaling more than 60cm of concrete. So it's not a sensors transmission performance.

Thanks for your help.

The range should be no worse than with the original base station.

Check your batteries, if they're weak, that could cause intermittent communication failure and Zipabox to display device as offline. If Zipabox is placed inside a metal / conductive cabinet, that would also decrease sensitivity.Which Oregon devices are displaying this behaviour?

The batteries are new and the Zipabox is juste behind the wall, not into a box.

Sensors are Oregon Scientific WGR800 wind sensor and THGN132ES multi-sensor (thermo and humidity), all Suported by zipato.

Do you think it's possible to check the power level of received signal with logs ?

E-mail your Zipabox credentials to support@zipato.com and I'll take a look.
