RFID Keypad

Need Answer

How does the RFID Keypad get used? I have it included in the controller and have set the RFID tag as shown in the video, the problem is that nothing happens when I try and use the RFID tag to arm / disarm the system.

I tried pressing the Away button, touching the RFID tag to the keypad and then pressing the Enter button. The problem is that nothing happens.

Is there somewhere I need to tell the Zipato that the keypad is allowed to arm and disarm the system?

You have to learn both home and away in a different slot.

slot 1:

event name: Nathan Home RFID

Now learn using Home button and RFID move over the device

Slot 2:

Event name: Nathan Away RFID

Now learn using the away button and move the RFID over the device.

Use slot 3 and 4 for the code.

So I need to learn it in both slots before it will work correctly?

Yes, for each state a seperate slot.

So, a family of four cannot have their own codes and keyfobs because this will require 16 slots?

you can add up to 10 different users each with their own keyfob.

I think your statement is very misleading. You have 10 available slots. One slot is used by Home and the other by Away. That cuts you down to 5 users. Add in a PIN code for the Away mode and you need 3 slots per person. So you only have enough slots for 3 people to have the recommended number of codes.

Pretty stupid if you ask me. But then again, I've had an open ticket for 5 weeks and still don't have a functioning security system.

Support doesn't seem to care either. They already have my money and it's been to long to return it now that they've been dragging their feet forever. Let's just say I won't be selling this system to any of my clients.

My business partner and I decided to try one to see if it was a viable solution. Our decision is that it's not even close.

luckily it doesn't matter what you think.

1: first add your users to the system in the user section.

2: now go to device manager of the keypad and choose a slot for each user, there are 10. So 10 individual users can be added, each with their own fob (ignore comment above from Nathan) :-)

Now you need to configure each user, by going into your alarm settings and choose users. Each user requires two lines, one for entry and one for exit. So these 2 lines have nothing to do with user spaces.

Thanks DW. I have bought the RFID keypad, but haven't had the time to look into this yet. This is good news!

Did you also add PIN codes to your users? I have set the keyfob to ARM and DISARM and it is working well. I can't sort out how to attach a PIN code as well.

no I didn't bother with pin codes............... but am guessing you can just add them? I'll see tomorrow on how pin codes work.

all the information you need is here in the instructions https://community.zipato.com/knowledge-base/article/zipato-mini-keypad-rfid-adding-irfid-tag-and-pin

Thanks Darkwing, the RFID Keypads work well.

People you really need to look at the instructions and make a little effort before slagging off the system and its attributes.

According to Zipato, it takes 3 slots per user if you follow their instructions.

http://wiki.zipato.com/wiki/Mini_Keypad_RFID/Z-Wave

So I most certainty did read the manual before "slagging off on the system" and the manual says "This is safe to do but will take up THREE definitions allocated to the individual (you!) in the RFID configuration"

Can anyone help me out on how I can activiate the buzzer that the Mini Keypad is supposed to have ? When I enter my house in Armed state I do not hear a buzzing sound that I need to switch off the alarm. THe alam simply goes off without any warning. It is not clear for me how I configure the system that I am alerted with a sound. Same for leaving the house when I have put the alarm in Armed state: I would like to hear a sound so I can make sure I am leaving and locking the door so I do not trigger the alarm.

Anybody ?

Here is a screenshot of the configuration of my Mini Keypad;

Dear Ruud,

Yes, Mini keypad has a buzzer, which can be used as walk‐in/walk-out notification

(alarm is being disabled/activated). Our team is working to enable this feature. Please be patient I will give you an update through this topic when it is completed.

Best regards,

Pero
